2 C4RE Class Teachers To deepen Teacher-Student-Relationship (TSR), all Form Teachers and Co-Form Teachers are henceforth known as C4RE (pronounced as Care) Teachers and will collaborate as a team to attend to the students needs Each class will have two or three C4RE Teachers and students can approach any of them should they need guidance and assistance The C4RE teachers-in-charge of your child are 2

14 Common Understanding Pupils Grooming School Uniform - Tuesday PE Attire (on PE and CCA Days) Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Attendance Matters If pupil is absent, an MC or Parent s letter is required 14

15 Communication Checking of pupils books and assignments regularly and communicating or highlighting issues to teachers. Check pupils Handbook for homework or notes from teacher. Books will be sent home for parents to check progress on a monthly basis- please go through the worksheets and acknowledge by signing them Communicate with teachers if you do not receive your child s books to check on his progress 15

16 ClassDojo ClassDojo is a communication app for the classroom. It facilitates a two-way communication between teacher and parents. Teachers will be using this app for important messages on class, school matters and individual student feedback. Parents can respond, seek feedback or send concerns to the teacher directly. 16

17 General Guidelines for Use of ClassDojo Teachers may not be able to respond to queries immediately especially those that come in late in the evening. The app should not be used for asking about homework etc. Students are encouraged to be attentive and responsible to take note of homework and instructions given in class. 17

18 Letter on Summary of Level Programmes Objectives provide a consolidated information of programmes and activities at the beginning of the term minimise parents receiving too many forms at various points of time be easy on students who sometimes forget to show parents and forms go missing one-time payment and collection of monies Missing forms or notification can be retrieved from the school website. 18

32 What is it? o A non-weighted test to: gauge pupils readiness level to face the P5 demand and rigour identify learning gaps that may hinder the progress of learning new concepts o Replaces existing CA1 in Term 1 o Change implemented in

34 What Happens After the Test? o o o Pupils needing support to bridge the learning gap will be identified. They will attend Banded Remediation lessons in Term 2 to Term 4. Those who are not identified may choose to take part in preparatory stage for selected competitions. 42

35 What is Banded Remediation? o o Pupils are grouped according to their areas for improvement and targeted remediation will take place on Monday and/or Tuesday afternoons (2.15 p.m. to 3.45 p.m.) A pupil may be scheduled to attend more than one subject for remediation lesson. 43

36 Banded Remediation This practice unlike past years where all pupils attend supplementary lessons Effort to monitor overall well-being of pupils Quality teaching and learning takes place during curriculum hours pupils not selected for remediation will not be disadvantaged in any way *A detailed letter will be given to your child later in the term. 44

37 Progression to Primary 6 Generally, most students would move up en- bloc to P6 Those not performing, would have SBB based on their P5 overall performance at the end of the year School based decision Based on students aptitude and performance in the four academic subjects 45

38 Progression to Primary 6 The four academic subjects (English Language, Math, Science and Mother Tongue) carry equal weightage 2019, being the PSLE year and year of merger, students overall well-being will be our priority 46

39 Admission to Secondary 1 2 ways of seeking admission into Secondary 1: a) Sec 1 Posting Exercise (refer to Secondary 1 Information Booklet and Secondary Education Booklet normally given in October a copy of 2017 available on MOE website) b) Direct School Admission (DSA) Sec Exercise 47

40 DSA Direct School Admission (DSA) allows students to seek admission to a secondary school on the basis of talents and achievements that may not be demonstrated at the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE). enables students to enter suitable academic and nonacademic programmes in Secondary Schools that can develop the students in these areas. Information is released normally in March April at 48
