In order for us to do this, we need your help. All you need to do is to call the Sunshine Lady of the month and let her know who you feel would enjoy a card from the community. Give her their name and reason and she will get the card out to them. Each month the name of the Sunshine Lady and her phone number can be found in your newsletter under the Sunshine Committee Report. If you know of any resident that you feel should receive a card from the community (get well, hospital, death, thinking of you, care taker, etc.) you are to call the Sunshine Lady and give her the information. Immediately she will put that name and reason on the yellow sheet (SUNSHINE REPORT) hanging on the board in the Activity Room and mail out the card. We urge everyone to check this sheet often! Due to the newsletter cut-off date, articles need to be submitted by the 15th of the month and will not appear in the newsletter until the following month. Unfortunately, due to HIPA, we are unable to give any additional information for sending the cards. Any questions, please feel free to call the Sunshine Committee! Sincerely, Your Sunshine Ladies: Margo , Barbara , Mary THANK YOU I m sure Rod s beautiful smile was beaming seeing all the outpouring and caring of so many friends at his funeral service and the many cards and memorials. 5 Page 5 Lakeview Center Newsle er ARBOR GATE SPOTLIGHT The Arbor Gate Spotlight this month is on Joy and John Nesbitt who moved to Arbor Gate in June of John is now retired, having served as a UMC Pastor in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church for 41 years. John was the founder of the Ecumenical Caring Coalition Food Bank of Delaware County, which served 24,000 clients per year at 12 locations in Delaware County, an area west of Philadelphia. John's last assignment was a record 27-year stay at the United Methodist Church in Broomall, Pa. He still teaches Bible Studies during Lent and in the Fall at Zion United Methodist Church in Myerstown. Having an interest in trains, large and small, John is an active member of the Arbor Gate Railroad Club. In the past he had served on the Lakeview Center Board and Chairman of the Activities Committee. When weather permits, he can be seen walking the streets of Arbor Gate. Joy is very happy living in her FIRST home, after keeping house in six parsonages. Now, if the refrigerator should break down they can go out and buy a new one immediately, instead of waiting 4 days for a replacement until the church committee agrees on style and price! John married Joy Ebersole in 1966, and they are the proud parents of Daniel and Julia, and two Grandsons, Alexander and Sawyer. Joy led a busy life as wife, mother, and then a math teacher. She is still active in the church choir and the bell choir at UMC in Myerstown. She can be found every Monday afternoon at the "Stitch and Chat" group which meets in the coffee shop. Want to learn to knit or crochet? Just stop in to the coffee shop at 1 p.m. on Mondays. Joy tells a funny story that happened a long time ago. The parsonage needed updating and the two Catholic Italian men were hard at work on their knees installing the carpet when Daniel and Julia came home from school. Thinking John was a Catholic priest and Joy was the housekeeper, they curiously asked her... "Whose Kids?" If you wish to be featured in a monthly Spotlight, feel free to contact: Eleanor
