10 Opportunities to Enhance Student Professional Experience at Indiana University School of Public Health March designed and implemented 3 day workshop/field trip over spring break for graduate safety students to visit the Oakridge Security Complex in Oak Ridge Tennessee and learn about the safety, security and emergency management roles, challenges and possible internship opportunities associated with the major security organizations of Y-12, the DOE Oversight Office and REACTS, the radiation response organization for the US. March coordinated and facilitated the sponsorship of the Indiana Safety Conference by the Indiana School of Public Health, providing opportunities for Safety students to attend the conference, meet safety professionals from across Indiana and serve as resource persons at the IUP booth promoting the graduate and undergraduate safety programs. Dr. Smith was further honored as top in her fields of injury prevention and health education by being selected as the top professional of the 101 Experts and she was subsequently given the honor of being showcased first in Cambridge Published book of Top 101 Industry Experts in March In this honor included an extensive interview highlighting Dr. Smith s teaching, service and research contributions to the fields of Safety and Health Education and focusing on her direct work with graduate students both in the United States and Internationally. September 2009, Aging Well published by Great Valley Publishing Company selected and showcased published research focused on training needs by Dr. Smith and her coauthors. Their research was showcased in recognition of the importance of focusing on Emergency Preparedness Training for Caregivers of the Frail Elders.
