3 Graduation Requirements 22.5 credits are required for graduation Credits in the following are REQUIRED: At least 4 History credits At least 4 English credits At least 3 Math credits At least 3 Science credits 4 years of Physical Education (Gym) ½ Health credit At least 2 Foreign Language credits (If you are in the Math/Science or Arts/Humanities career paths)

4 Keystone Exams All incoming 9 th Graders are required to take and pass the Keystone Exams in the following subjects: Algebra I Literature Biology

5 Western Wayne Guidance 339 Plan 339 Plan: a comprehensive K-12 guidance program that focuses on the student, education, future plans and careers. Involves students, parents, educators, Postsecondary educators and business/community members Goal: to connect education with the future workforce

6 Senior Project Every student must complete a Senior Project. Students must also provide a successful presentation of their project in order to graduate. Projects will have a future career based theme to comply with career/work standards. Your English teacher will guide you through the process. Specific questions should be addressed to Mr. Rebar, the Senior Project Coordinator.

Start to visit colleges 3. Apply for scholarships (free money) 4. Grades, SATs, Extracurricular Activities, Volunteerism are important

9 School-Wide Truancy Elimination Program (STEP) STEP is designed to reduce excessive absences from school and is a school-based intervention for students and families who are in danger of magisterial citation due to truancy. STEP team consists of parents, student, administration, teachers, counselors, school nurse, C&Y, school social worker, probation, Wayne Co MH/MR, and the magisterial court. In lieu of an initial citation to the District Magistrate for truancy charges, the student and family will be required to attend a STEP meeting at the school. A plan is developed with the team to assist the parent and student with attendance in school

10 Wallenpaupack Area Wayne Highlands Western Wayne 9th Grade Together for Health Wayne Memorial Health System and your school district are co-sponsoring the 9th Grade Together for Health program to provide for you resources and practical tools for healthier lifestyle choices. Kick-Off Assembly ~ Chain Reaction Presented by Rachel s Challenge. Chain Reaction is a six-hour, intensive, interactive training that consists of: 1) teaching and processing segments; 2) physical activities; and 3) full- and small-group sharing. Chain Reaction includes a cross section of your school s population represented by 50 7th grade and 50 9th grade students and adults. Students will be selected by school personal. Western Wayne Mon., 9/12/16; Wayne Highlands Wed., 9/14/16; Wallenpaupack Area Thur., 9/16/16 Clinical Assessments: FREE blood draw to check your Lipid Profile (Glucose, Cholesterol, HDL, LDL & Triglycerides) and a CBC (Complete Blood Count) Parental Permission required. YOU SHOULD FAST FOR 12 HOURS prior to the tests, nothing to eat or drink, except water and necessary medications, after 8pm the night before. A light breakfast will be served for those completing the blood test.
