1 Introduction Form & Content of the Annual New Jersey College Student & Parent Information Websites for 2017 The New Jersey College Student and Parent Consumer Information Act was approved January 14, 2010 and effective March 16, 2010 and requires each New Jersey four-year public institution of higher education to place comprehensive information on the cost of attendance, the graduation rates of admitted students, and the faculty of the institution, on its website. The stated purpose of the Act is to maximize the awareness of students and their families of the costs associated with enrollment in the institution, the institution s success in ensuring the graduation of its students, and the composition of the teaching faculty that a student will encounter. Several University actions are noted here because they are especially in keeping with the purpose of this legislation. and the Board of Trustees continue to implement a Strategic Plan with five strategic goals that address program excellence, student engagement and graduation, and effective management of resources. For the last seven years, the University has instituted modest increases in the cost of attendance. In 2017, we increased tuition and fees 1.8 percent, among the lowest in the state. We continue to focus fundraising efforts on private scholarship support, which has increased three-fold. Building on last year's opening of the new state-of-the-art academic building, University Hall, this fall saw the opening of Preakness Hall. The new 58,000-square-foot facility houses four state-ofthe-art kinesiology laboratories, a phlebotomy room, 14 smart classrooms, a 90-seat auditorium, numerous small and large group study rooms, the Writing Center, and offices for the English and Philosophy departments faculty. Both projects were supported by the Building Our Future General Obligation Bond. Of particular note is the Student Success Scholarship program that encourages students to stay on track to graduate in four years. Students are recipients of a $1,000 scholarship because they earned at least 30 credits and maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA. The scholarship is automatically renewed for students who continue to meet these criteria. A summary of the University s recent accomplishments are found by linking to our Annual Report at I.
