12 NOTICES: The JIS bulletin is available free by to IfA members. Please contact the IfA office to take advantage of this offer or to enquire about joining IfA and obtaining JIS and all the other benefits of membership. L.B. IfA Registered Organisations are now entitled to unlimited free advertising throughout the year to advertise their jobs and courses, both in the bulletin & also on the IfA website. Non RO Advertisers: Standard ½ A4 size page adverts cost 100. Non RO institutional subscribers to JIS bulletin pay 150 pa & are also entitled to 4 free adverts pa. Advertisers: it has come to our notice that some employers do not acknowledge applications or CVs sent to them and do not inform applicants that they were unsuccessful in applying for work. Failure to respond to applicants contributes to a sense of disillusionment, particularly in those who are trying to live and gain work experience on a series of short term contracts, and eventually, to the loss of talented archaeologists from the profession. We appreciate that adverts can result in the receipt of a large number of applications, and that it is not always policy to contact unsuccessful applicants. We therefore suggest that organisations state clearly in the advert if applications will not receive an acknowledgement, and provide a date by which shortlisting will have taken place so that applicants who have not been notified by that time can assume they were unsuccessful. Please note: all applicants are entitled to receive feedback if unsuccessful. Thank you, L.B.
