2 Lecturer in Fine Art School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures Are you a practising artist with a track-record of ambitious and influential work? Do you have experience of and a commitment to teaching contemporary Fine Art practice in innovative and critically-informed ways? Would you like to join the internationally renowned interdisciplinary School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies? The School is a recognised leader in research and research-led teaching in Fine Art, History of Art, Cultural and Museum Studies. We offer a unique combination of programmes centred on the encounter between historical, cultural and theoretical analysis, museum and heritage studies and fine art practice. You will join an experienced, innovative and diverse team to teach across our four undergraduate Fine Art and MA in Fine Art programmes, in addition to supervising PhD students in practice-led research. You will also be actively involved in research, producing high quality exhibitions, performances and publications and contributing to the School s Research Excellence Framework (REF). You will have the opportunity to engage with the School s many research centres including the Centre for Audio Visual Experimentation (CAVE) and the Artists Writings & Publications Research Centre (AWP), along with our ongoing particpation by academic staff and research students in the European Artists Research Network (EARN). You will have achieved a high level of professional experience and standing as a leading practitioner, nationally and internationally, and demonstrate an enthusiasm for and record of research-led teaching. You will also be fluent with current practices located at the intersections between fine art, history of art, art writing and curation. In addition, you will have a proven record of research (commensurate with the level of the post) activities such as exhibitions, performances and/or published work, along with experience of and commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Applications are welcome from any area of fine art practice. What does the role entail? As a Lecturer in Fine Art, your main duties will include:

3 Undertaking teaching at all levels of our taught programmes, including assessment and examinations and contributing towards module design, review and quality assurance mechanisms; Providing support and guidance to students, providing timely feedback, acting as a personal tutor, resolving issues and/or referring to specialist parties, where appropriate; Pursuing and maintaining a record of high quality exhibitions/performances and original research publications suitable for inclusion in the School s submissions to the Research Excellence Framework (REF); Promoting the integration of your own research area with other research interests within, and, as appropriate, outside the School and Faculty; Contributing effectively to the administrative processes and committee structures of the School, Faculty and University. These duties provide a framework for the role and should not be regarded as a definitive list. Other reasonable duties may be required consistent with the grade of the post. What will you bring to the role? As a Lecturer in Fine Art, you will have: A PhD in Fine Art or a related field (or the PhD award will be pending, that is, submitted, examined and awarded, subject to minor corrections or amendments), or an equivalent level of professional experience; A track record of research outputs commensurate with career stage and appropriate to your practice already completed, and further outputs in prospect, with a clear indication of future plans and the potential to achieve the very highest standards of research in the field of fine art practice; Demonstrable ability to teach in higher education with the capacity to innovate appropriate delivery techniques and assessment methods and to inspire students; Teaching experience and/or expertise in studio practice and any other related areas; Experience of working in partnership with public or private galleries, foundations, museums and publishers; Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with peers;

4 The ability to contribute to management and administrative processes and structures. You may also have: A track record of successful research grants; An interest in contemporary art theory; The potential to attract and supervise Postgraduate Research students.
