Lincoln High School Registration Information 9th Grade Students Thursday, January 19th LHS counselors will be here to talk with students about LHS courses Thursday, January 25th Students will be registering for their classes 8th Grade Students Friday, January 19th LHS counselors will be here to talk with students about LHS courses Friday, January 26th Students will be registering for their classes Lincoln High School Registration Expo The registration expo will be held in conjunction with Parent Teacher Conferences at Lincoln. Tables will be set up for each department specifically for registration questions. The expo will be held on Monday, January 22 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. There will be a meeting in the PAC at 5:00 and then move into the Fieldhouse to meet with teachers. It is an excellent opportunity for students (grades 8, 9, 10, and 11) and their parents to learn about courses at LHS, the registration process, and gather important information about educational opportunities. Please attend and bring your son or daughter. Teachers from each department at LHS, counselors, and administration will be available to answer all of your questions. Be sure you have had discussions with your child about their career plans and what they want to do after graduation. These discussions will go a long way when making sure students are taking rich, rigorous, and appropriate courses that will meet their goals. We look forward to seeing you. Special Ed Transition Night Transition night will be held along with the registration expo on Monday, January 22 following the 5:00 registration expo in the PAC. Meet/Greet time with LHS Special Education teachers will be held in the IMC from 5:30-7:00. Students can use this time to familiarize themselves with Lincoln High School s layout and classrooms. Special Education Teachers will be available to answer questions about LHS classes Working together with home and community, we are dedicated to providing the best education for every student, enabling each to be a thoughtful, responsible contributor to a changing world.

4 If you haven t ordered a yearbook for the School Year yet, please consider doing so. Yearbooks will be distributed to students on the last day of school and provide a copy of the memories of times spent in this building with classmates and friends. When students leave here on the last day, this building will no longer be a junior high school when classes begin next fall. As of this printing, 273 of a possible 680 students have purchased a yearbook that they will receive on the last day. Every year, we hear from students and parents regarding the fact that they want to purchase one when everyone else is receiving theirs. Unfortunately, very few extra are ordered which leaves most students out of luck in securing a yearbook. Please, take the time today or prior to January 26th to order a yearbook for your child. The cost is currently $25 but will increase to $30 after January 26th. Follow one of the three steps listed below to receive a yearbook for your child. 5 In January, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will have an opportunity to take a survey created by the United Way Youth Success Coalition. The goal of the survey is to collect information regarding how the community can better support student activities outside of the school day. The survey will be available for students beginning later this month. If you would like to view the survey, please click on the following link: Survey This year Lincoln High School began the International Education Program with our first student from China. We are excited to continue this program for the school year. WRPS is looking to host 4-5 students from China next year and is seeking families/persons who may be interested in serving as a host family to an international student during the school year. We have an overwhelming amount of interest from our Chinese partners, and finding secure host families is the cornerstone of a successful program. Host families will receive a $650 monthly reimbursement for expenses during the school year. More information, the host family application and host family rules and responsibilities can be found on our website. If you are interested in hosting a student or have any further questions, contact Mr. Rasmussen, Principal at or at ronald.rasmussen@wrps.net Winter Dress As the weather gets colder, please be sure students are dressing appropriately. This should include wearing a coat, hat and gloves if you re waiting outside in the morning. In the building, the temperature varies by room so layering may be best. Blankets are not allowed because they create a tripping hazard in the hallways, stairwells and classrooms. Flannel or fuzzy pajama pants and slippers should be reserved for home, not school, and all footwear must have a hard soled bottom. Sports Information 8th Grade Girls Basketball will begin practice on Tuesday, January 9th right after school in the EJH field house. You must have a current WIAA physical or alternate year card on file in the East office to participate in any sport. All other athletic forms must be completed in Skyward - Family Access. If you have any questions, please contact the East office.

6 The District is seeking parent/guardian input to help us make informed technology decisions. This is an anonymous survey regarding your technology use. It will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. Your answers are very important! They will help us in choosing the right technology for our classrooms. The survey will open on Monday January 15, 2018 and will run until February 2, Shortly after the survey opens you may receive notification from the District through Skylert reminding you to take the survey. To take the survey you can navigate to wrps.org and select the BrightBytes Survey link under the Quick Links menu on the homepage. If you do not have online access to take the survey, please contact your student s schools main office to make alternative arrangements to take the survey. Freshman Formal Friday, May 18, 2018 Freshman Formal is a fun tradition for the freshman class to get together and celebrate their time at East Junior High. It s their first chance to experience a dance in a semiformal setting. Students are encouraged to come as groups of friends rather than as couples or with dates. Attire is semi-formal and should abide by the following dress code: Dress slacks and dress shirts (ties or bowties optional) Dresses can be slightly above the knee, tea length or long Dresses can be strapless and 2-piece dresses must completely cover the torso and midriff Dresses should not be too tight or too revealing ONLY East Junior High freshmen may attend the dance. 8th grade students or students from other schools are not allowed. Administration may deny attendance to the Freshman Formal based on truancy, behavior, or academic concerns.
