3 The Counselor s Corner Page 3 Each week I want to highlight some helpful strategies or important events coming up for CGB High School Students. If you have any questions, please don t hesitate to contact me! ACT Reminders Reminders for the test days - Your phone (or smart watch) will not be allowed in the test rooms or between test sessions. Either keep it at home, in your locker, or we will keep it in the HS office while you are testing. Come to school on time. You will not be allowed to test if the test session has already started. Bring extra #2 pencils with you (and erasers). Bring your calculator. Dress comfortably and don t skip out on breakfast. You are not allowed to bring anything into the test room besides what you need for the test (pencils, erasers, calculator). Keep your belongings in your lockers. ** Following the ACT test on February 27, all juniors will have the option to eat lunch and stay the rest of the day, each lunch and leave, or leave after being excused from the test. Lunch will be served in the commons at 12:30. It will conclude at 1:00. If a student leaves after testing/lunch they will have an excused absence but will still be required to make-up any missed work. For students who have missed a significant amount of school, I would recommend that they stay. Buses will run as usual. Upcoming Events Tuesday, February 27th: ACT test at CGB High for Juniors (make-up day is March 20th) Wednesday, February 28th: ACT Work Keys test at CGB High for Juniors (make-up day is March 21st) A signed Infinite Campus Class List is due to Rocket Block teachers. The local scholarship application (seniors) is due. Thursday, March 1st The Bruce Krier scholarship (seniors) is due. The Early College Credit Program and the Start College Now applications are due. Friday, March 2nd: Entering course requests in 8th grade classrooms. Tuesday, March 6th: Biolife will be in 1st lunch to discuss job opportunities. Wednesday, March 7th: AP Test Forms and payment due in the office. Thursday, March 15th: Explore Your Future field trip for 10th graders. Tuesday, March 20th: Youth Apprenticeship Late Information Night. 5-6:30pm LTC Clevelend Campus - Lake Michigan Room. Parent/Guardian and Student must attend (if unable to go to info nights in February).
