4 FINAL EXAMS Exemption Policy and Exam Regulations: Final Exams are mandatory for ALL students except seniors with at least a 90 (A-) average. ALL ECE Exams are MANDATORY. If you have an excused absence on the day of an exam you may make up that exam on Friday, June 19 th. You will need to make an appointment with the teacher of that class. Unexcused absences will count as a zero and may not be made up. You are not required to come to school unless you have an exam. Student will not be allowed under any circumstances to loiter on the school grounds. 5 ACADEMIC RECOGNITION TOP TWENTY DINNER This annual dinner is sponsored by the East Hartford Exchange Club to recognize the Top Twenty Students of the Class of The twenty students and their parents are invited. It is being held at the Marco Polo Restaurant in East Hartford on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY INDUCTION Each year the Tucker-Blake Chapter of the National Honor Society inducts new members into the organization. Candidates need to have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above to fulfill the scholarship component. In addition to scholarship, students must also demonstrate outstanding accomplishments in the areas of character, leadership, and service. This year s Tucker-Blake Chapter National Honor Society Induction will be held in the East Hartford Community Cultural Center on June 3 rd at 6:30pm. Both inductees and their parents will receive an invitation for the ceremony. HONORS & AWARDS NIGHT This annual program is to present students with various honors and awards achieved throughout the school year. Our program begins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2009 East Hartford High School s Auditorium. While award recipients and their parents will receive special invitations, the ceremony is open to anyone who wishes to attend. Dress for this occasion is casual, appropriate dress is required; i.e., khakis, dress pants, etc. Numerous awards will be presented during the program, including gifts, plaques, and book awards. The ceremony concludes with the presentation of our Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the Class of SCHOLARSHIP CEREMONY The Scholarship Ceremony, sponsored by our Guidance Department, is given to honor a large number of East Hartford High School senior students who have received local scholarships. Due to large volume of scholarships available, we are unable to acknowledge all. The program will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2009 in East Hartford High School s East Lecture Hall and will begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. Light refreshments will be served immediately following the program.

6 SENIOR ACTIVITIES YEARBOOK SIGNING Yearbooks will be distributed the week of June 8 th. Bring your yearbooks to senior class night to have them signed by your friends. SENIOR CLASS NIGHT: It s a Luau! Senior class night will be held on Wednesday June 10, 2009 in the East Hartford Cafeteria from 5 pm -7pm. Class night is free for all seniors. There will be a DJ, pizza, cake, slide show, yearbook signing, and the first 100 students to arrive will receive a prize. CIBA GRADUATION CEREMONY The Annual Connecticut International Baccalaureate Academy Ceremony will be held at Goodwin College on Wednesday, June 17 th, 2009 at 7 o clock p.m. The superintendent will be giving a speech that will offer an inspirational message to the graduating senior class. Selected speeches written by some of the senior will be presented and hopefully the CIBA Choir will also be performing. All seniors and their families are invited to attend the ceremony. No advance R.S.V.P. is necessary. Please call Mrs. Theresa Godreau, CIBA s Secretary, at (860) PROJECT GRADUATION Project Graduation is a committee of parents and volunteers who meet throughout the school year to sponsor a substance free graduation party. This event is a safe and fun way for members of your class to be together one last time and celebrate your accomplishments. It is the hope of the Committee that every member of the Class of 2009 will participate in this event. Students will be transported to Nomads in South Windsor by First Student Transportation. Students will meet in the East Hartford High School lot at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, They will return to the school lot at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 21, Detailed information will be sent home.

If you can not attend a rehearsal you must notify Mrs. Marion as soon as possible!!

8 GRADUATION CEREMONY Saturday, June 20 th, 2009 At The First Cathedral, 1151 Blue Hills Avenue Bloomfield, Connecticut Graduates must arrive by 11:30 a.m. Graduation Ceremony begins PROMPTLY at 1:00 p.m. Only 5 tickets per Graduate (this includes all infants and children) For further questions, please have a parent call the House 12 Office *Only students who have successfully completed all graduation requirements will be allowed to participate in the ceremony. 9 The Senior Ball will be held at La Renaissance in East Windsor, Connecticut Friday, June 5, 2009 from 6:00p.m. - 11:00p.m. All guests must arrive by 7:00 p.m. NO LATE ARRIVALS WILL BE ADMITTED This dinner/dance will be open to East Hartford High School Seniors and their guests. All non EHHS guests must be under 21 years old. THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE. Formal attire for this occasion is expected. Students wearing inappropriate attire will be asked to change before entering the Senior Ball or will not be allowed admittance. All expectations for behavior will be strictly adhered to and are outlined in Parent/Student Handbook. Anyone indicating any involvement with alcohol or a controlled substance will not be admitted and are subject to additional disciplinary actions from Saturday Detention to OSS/Expulsion and exclusion from the graduation ceremony. Students and their guests may not leave the Senior Ball and return. If students leave early, parents will be contacted. If a student needs to retrieve something from their car during the dance they must be escorted to the parking lot by a staff member. You may pick up photograph forms in Main Office and when purchasing tickets. There will be a photographer on site to take photos. Please have your cash, check or money order ready for your photos on the night of the Senior Ball. Early dismissal: Students leaving school without permission will not be allowed entry into the prom. Students must be in school, on time, and attend periods A,B,C, & D on Friday, June 5 th Class attendance will be checked Tickets will NOT be refunded. Early Dismissal permission slips must be returned by Tuesday, June 2 nd to House 12. They will be available during ticket sales, at the Main Office, and at the House 12 Office *****IMPORTANT: Excused absences for Early Dismissal are still counted towards the Attendance Policy Requirements. BE AWARE of your number of absences for the classes that you may miss on that Friday of the Senior Ball***** Tickets on Sale: May 18- May 22, 2009 Gym Lobby- D, E, F, G lunches $70.00 per person (CASH or MONEY ORDER ONLY) You may only buy a ticket if.. You are a senior (16 credits) You have CASH or MONEY ORDER and ID when paying You have NO accountabilities You have a fully signed permission slip (may pick up in Main Office) You have a photocopied picture ID containing a birth date of your non-ehhs guest who must be under 21 on the date of the Senior Ball.

10 The Senior Class Picnic is scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at High Meadows in North Granby, Connecticut. Students will be there from approximately 9:00 to about 5:30 6:00 (buses will be getting us back well after regular buses so plan accordingly!) Seniors must ride on the transportation that is provided by the school in order to attend this event. This is strictly an EHHS senior affair; therefore, seniors may not invite guests to the outing. Anyone indicating any involvement with alcohol or a controlled substance will not be admitted and are subject to additional disciplinary actions from Saturday Detention to OSS/expulsion and exclusion from the graduation ceremony. Dress comfortably for the picnic. There will be lots of food and activities at this resort area. Be aware of the day s weather forecast. There will be many activities to do no matter whether it is rainy or sunny!! Bring sunscreen and suit and towel for the pool as well as a jacket for the morning. There is an area to lock up personal belongings that has a monitor for the entire day. Be prepared to participate in games (the more you play the more fun you have). High Meadow Day Camp has many activities. Just a few of them are video karaoke, ping pong, a pool, tennis, fields for Frisbee and flag football, a hypnotist, horse back riding, tattoo art, climbing wall, dance tent, and a trampoline bungee jump. $$$$Bring extra cash if you want to go for a trail ride!!!!!$$$$
