1 GAMES CLASSES FOR ALL 1 ST YEAR UNDER GRADUATE STUDENTS Sports and Games are compulsory for 1 st year Under Graduate Students. Attendance is mandatory and it helps them to maintain fitness and develop a competitive spirit. Approximately 300 students are coming in day order basis for one hour every day.
2 Extra Curricular Course : Sports - Part IV Component Sports is a curricular component for all the under graduate students with one academic credit for theory, practical, special camp and achievements in each semester. They are having weekly twohour sports classes. Attendance is regular to appear for the examinations. 5 SPORTS INITIATIVES Reservation of seats in admission for sports persons To encourage the sports and extracurricular activities the Institute offers 3 % Sports Quota in admissions for all Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses. Sports Scholarships Institute provides 100 % free education and hostel for the outstanding sports persons during the academic period. Extramural Sports Every year the Department of Physical Education has talent hunt among the students to select the best players to represent Avinashilingam Institute in all level of tournaments by conducting team Selection Trials, Talent Identification Meet, Project Sports Meet and Intramural Sports. Coaching camps were conducted for the selected players to represent our Institute in South Zone/ All India Inter University games and sports. Students of our Institute have set up an impressive and consistent record of performance in almost all games and sports. They take part in the International, National, Inter University, Tamil Nadu State Inter University, Inter Collegiate and various open State and District tournaments and won many laurels. A. Academic Support i. On-Duty leave is granted for attending District/ State/ National/ Inter University Coaching Camps and the tournaments. ii. Supplementary examinations have conducted for the sports persons when they represent Avinashilingam Institute during the Comprehensive Examinations. B. Diet/ Refreshment Charges Avinashilingam Institute provides Diet/ Refreshment charges for the Coaches/ Team Managers and the Players for representing our Institute in different level of sports tournaments every year. C. Travelling Charges Actual bus fare or train fare from the Institute to the tournament venue and back have been provided for all local/ District/ State/ Intercollegiate tournaments for Coaches, Team Managers and Players. D. Sports Kit
6 Avinashilingam Institute provides sports tracksuits, Jersey and Shorts for all the players who were representing our Institute in extramural tournaments. Intramural Sports and Sports Day Sports Star Award Avinashilingam Institute and the Alumni Association of Avinashilingam Institute jointly encourage and recognize the students who attain individual honors in the way of representing State and country during their course period and they were honored with the Sports Star Award during Sports Day. Best Players Awards Institute motivates the players who gave their best performance in each game were honored with Best Player award during Sports Day. SPORTS DAY Every year Avinashilingam Institute organize SPORTS DAY- a month long intramural sports Competitions conducted for all the students in four house basis in more than 35 disciplines of various sports and events. The achievers of intramural competitions honored during sports Day. The colourful event SPORTS DAY begins with Olympic torch. The students of various houses also present an impressive march past, sports events, and Colorful demonstrations. The staff who achieved in intramural staff tournaments also honored in SPORTS DAY.

8 Adventure Sports Regular exposure to tough situations in an exciting environment can improve resilience and many of these skills. Further, the continuous physical activity in pristine environment will improve metabolism and health. Avinashilingam Institute offered that exciting experience to the students with National Adventure Limited, Manjakombai and Coonoor. The activities include high rope climbing, rock clibbing, grappling and mind games. State level Volleyball tournament ]
9 Avinuty Marathon Avinaashilingam Institute organized Avinuty Marathon-2014 on (Womens Day). We have conducted the events in 5 different categories i.e, 4 kms for Girls (Below 17 Yrs), 4 kms for Women (18 yrs & above), 2 kms for University/ College/ School Staff (30 Yrs & above), 2 kms for Masters (60 yrs & above) and 1 Km for Differently abled persons. More than 3500 members were participated in this mega event.
