It provides services to women and children such as labor and delivery, neo-natal intensive care and pediatrics. The facility also houses an emergency room, a surgery department and a full imaging department. Attached to the hospital is an outpatient services building housing physician offices and a lab. Rio Tinto Minerals Corporate Headquarters, Greenwood Village, CO, LEED Silver (Research) Rio Tinto Minerals (RTM) is the world s largest producer of salt, boron and talc. In 2007 RTM selected Greenwood Village, Colorado as the location for their new corporate headquarters, merging the existing subsidiaries of US Borax (Valencia, CA) and Luzenac America (Centennial, CO). OZ was hired to design the new facility utilizing elements of the RTM Global Workplace Standards to create a new corporate identity for RTM. Acacia Fraternity, Boulder, CO (Housing) This project involves the re-development of two adjacent parcels at 17th and Broadway, directly across from the University of Colorado Boulder campus. The site is currently occupied by former fraternity houses that are now functioning as rental apartment buildings. Proposed are two three-story buildings with 39 for-rent apartments that will be marketed exclusively to CU students. Confluence, Community College of Denver, Denver, CO (Academic) The Community College of Denver seeks to build a new $43 million 85,000 SF student services building on the Auraria campus. Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library, Denver, CO (Library) In 2001, Mayor Wellington Webb decided to build a project as his legacy to the City of Denver. Phase one included a 12,000 sf three-story administrative addition providing offices and conference room space for the Athletic Department. Classroom and lecture halls were designed to incorporate the latest medical education practices and theories. State-ofthe-art audio-visual equipment and technology was installed to maximize learning capacity. In addition, wireless capacity exists throughout the entire facility with multiple work/study areas. AREA 150,000 sf - Phase I 13

14 FRONT RANGE COMMUNITY COLLEGE LARIMER CAMPUS Fort Collins, Colorado At Front Range Community College s Larimer Campus, we were engaged to update their master plan, based on changing factors including available funding, and to improve it to address their need to maintain operations throughout the multi-phase development. We worked with a variety of user groups to understand the true space needs of the various departments affected, and evaluated their current location in the multiple buildings on that campus. With this information, we explored options to relocate them on campus with the intent of consolidating related departments to build better synergy and collaboration between them. We also looked for optimal features in each of the existing facilities that could benefit the departments. For example, the large doors and windows in the current auto shop could be used to provide ample daylighting into an art studio classroom. We also explored future buildings and expansions to existing buildings on the campus. The primary goal was to improve the student experience on campus, so issues such as student wayfinding and improved access to faculty were considered in addition to departmental collaboration. Once the ideal campus locations were agreed upon, we worked to develop a phasing plan to allow revisions to occur on campus without compromising the academic offerings during the construction sequencing, or having to move departments multiple times. 1
