Adams, DO Dean, College of Osteopatic Medicine of te Pacific Western University of Healt Sciences Clinton Adams, DO, as been Dean of te College of Osteopatic Medicine of te Pacific (COMP) since January Dr. Adams joined COMP following a distinguised career in te United States Navy, were e attained te rank of Rear Admiral and served in a variety of capacities, notably as Command Surgeon for United States Fleet Forces Command, Command Surgeon for Allied Command for Transformation (NATO), and Commander of te Naval Regional Medical Center in Portsmout, Virginia. Dr. Adams as overseen te implementation of a new curriculum and te growt of researc funding and publications. Te academic profile of te institution as been recognized by organizations as reflected in national rankings in licensure examinations and placement of graduates in postdoctoral residency programs. Among oter professional certifications, Dr. Adams is a Fellow of te American College of Healt Care Executives and a Fellow of te American Academy of Family Pysicians, and is board certified in Anestesiology. He completed an anestesia residency at George Wasington University and Family Medicine at te Carleston Naval Hospital. He is a past president of te Association of Military Osteopatic Pysicians and Surgeons, a member of te American College of Osteopatic Family Pysicians, and also serves on te Executive Board of te American Association of Colleges of Osteopatic Medicine. 3

5 Susan Melvin, DO, FAAFP A passionate family pysician, Susan Melvin, DO, as been te residency director of te Memorial Family Medicine Medical Group, affiliated wit Long Beac Memorial and Miller Cildren s Hospital, for te past decade. Se as been an active member of te prestigious MemorialCare Pysician Society Board of Directors since A graduate of Western University of Healt Sciences, Dr. Melvin completed er family medicine residency at Riverside General Hospital (Riverside, CA) and er Geriatric Fellowsip at East Carolina Scool of Medicine (Greenville, NC). Dr. Melvin olds board certification in Family Medicine and Geriatrics. Se also completed te University of Soutern California Management Development program, wic enanced er business management skills as se runs a large, successful medical group practice. Under Dr. Melvin s leadersip, te Long Beac Memorial Family Medicine residency program as earned a reputation for training excellent, compassionate pysicians dedicated to serving teir communities in all aspects of family medicine including pediatrics, obstetrics, geriatrics and more. A dedicated pysician and educator, Dr. Melvin runs tis program wit a lot of eart, encouraging its residents to actively seek opportunities to serve te needs of and connect wit its diverse local community. Dr. Melvin received te 2008 California Academy of Family Pysicians Barbara Harris Award for excellence in education, and as been recognized wit oter prestigious awards for excellence in education and researc trougout er career. In 2006, se was appointed by Governor Scwarzenegger to California s Osteopatic Medical Board. Se currently serves as secretary-treasurer of tat board. Se is currently cair of te Board of Directors of te MemorialCare Pysician Society, a group of over 1,500 pysicians wo work wit MemorialCare to improve clinical outcomes and patient safety troug te use of medicine s best practices. Se is also an active member of te American Academy of Family Pysicians, California Academy of Family Pysicians, Osteopatic Pysicians and Surgeons of California, American Geriatrics Society, Society of Teacers of Family Medicine, Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors, and Coastal Researc Group. Dr. Melvin as traveled around te country saring er expertise, publications and career-long passion and interest in various critical family medicine trends and topics, including women s ealt issues, domestic violence and abuse, and te special ealt needs and concerns of elderly patients. 4

6 Alexander Paul Aversano, DO Alexander Paul Aversano, DO, graduated from Des Moines College of Osteopatic Medicine and Surgery in He interned at Brentwood Hospital in Warrensville Heigts, Oio from , and did is residency in neurology at Te Cleveland Clinic from In 1977, e went into private practice in neurology in Portland, Oregon, and was affiliated wit Eastmoreland Hospital. He as been involved in student, intern, and residency training since tat time. He served as Director of Medical Education at Eastmoreland for five years, and as served on te Medical Education Committee for 25 years. He was professor of neurology for five years at te College of Osteopatic Medicine of te Pacific, and was Teacer of te Year in He is te clerksip director for Portland's Nortwest Track. 5
