2 DAV PUBLIC SCHOOLS, ODISHA ZONE EXAMINATION RULES STD III - X 1. There will be four Formative Assessments and two Summative Assessments as mentioned in the syllabus. 2. A Formative Assessment carries 40 Marks as follows: Pen & Paper Test : 20 Marks Activity 1 (a) HW/CW : 05 Marks (b) Activity : 05 Marks Activity 2 (Activity/IDP) : 10 Marks 3. Formative Tests include MCQ and VSQ Tests,, Group Discussion, Role Play, Seminar, Speech, Recitation, Map Work, Dictation, Chart making, Skill Tests, CW/HW Copy maintenance etc. 4. Summative Assessments are written tests comprising of 90 marks for all subjects except English for classes VIII-X.(Class VIII English, Written 80 Marks + ASL 10 Marks, Class IX and X English, Written 70 Marks + ASL 20 Marks) 5. All the students are required to take all Formative Assessments and Summative Assessments without fail. 6. The dates for Formative Assessments and Summative Assessments will be fixed by the Examination Committee of the school/ DAV CMC after considering all aspects. 7. Portion of Summative Assessment - II will not include the portion taught for Summative Assessment - I. 8. In case of sickness during tests or examination days, immediate information must be sent through application with medical certificate to the Principal. However, due to genuine reason absence in one of the Formative Test may be permitted where average of the rest of the tests will be taken into account. 9. Minimum 75% attendance is the other pre-requisite to be eligible for promotion to the next higher class. 10. Due weightage of FAs and SAs will be taken into consideration for promotion to the next higher class. i.e. FA I (10%) + FA II (10%) + SA I (30%) + FA III (10%) + FA IV (10%) + SA II (30%) = 100% (overall) 11. The performance of a student in Scholastic and Co-scholastic areas will be reflected in terms of Grades in the report Card. A student has to secure minimum D grade (4.0 grade point or marks) in all the subjects under Scholastic and Coscholastic domain individually in the final for promotion to the next higher class. 12. Students obtaining grade E1 or E2 in the subjects will have to appear for Improvement Test to improve their performance. They will get only one chance to obtain the qualifying grade. Grading system to be followed by the school as recommended by CBSE Part I : Scholastic Areas (Grading on 9 point scale) 2
