In Daniel s spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, working in his yard and watching professional sports on television. Keith Stewart Daniel Valdivia Men s Head Soccer Coach Soccer has been a part of Daniel s life since a very young age. Both of his parents were born in Jalisco, Mexico and soccer was always around Daniel s family and home. Daniel played recreational soccer from the age of 5 until the age of 19. He attended Enterprise High School in Redding, California and was captain of the varsity soccer team for both his junior and senior years. He was a Northern Athletic League (NAL) 1st Team All-League selection at the stopper position. He played on a local U19 Division I team called Mavericks United after graduating from high school. Daniel completed his Bachelor s degree in Psychology from Chico State and his Masters Degree in School Counseling from the University of La Verne. Daniel has been coaching soccer since the age of 17. Daniel has been a head coach or assistant coach for various Redding Youth Soccer League teams (U6, U8, U10, U16, U19). He feels fortunate to have 14 Fall 2016 Jesse Banda Coach Jesse Banda was born and raised in Tampico, Tamaulipas Mexico. He played soccer every day as a youth, two to four hours each day. His family did not have television, so soccer was his outlet. Even though his soccer field was just dirt and their goal posts were made of two branches with a rope holding them together, Jesse s passion for the sport was strong, as his uncle played professionally and he often got to attend the pro games. When Coach Banda came to the United States, it was the beginning of a completely new world for him. He attended James Lick High School where he joined the track, wrestling, boxing and karate teams. Unfortunately, soccer was not very popular and there were very few local teams. While attending San Jose City College though, he was able to join a team and play recreationally. He then met the coach of a local soccer team who asked if he could help coach and it was at this time, aiding a youth team, that his coaching career began. Through the years, Jesse Banda has coached various youth soccer teams. He was a coach at Central Valley High School for four years. He volunteered one year at Foothill High School and has coached at Shasta College since 2011, having served as an assistant coach and head coach. Presently, he is a volunteer coach for Enterprise High School and has been with them since He is looking forward to working with the Shasta College Men s Soccer team this year and contributing his experience to the athletes. Coach Banda graduated from Shasta College with an AA degree in Administration of Justice and works for Shasta County. He lives here in Redding with his family. His past time is coaching private soccer lessons to young soccer players and he is proud to say that he has his own soccer field at home made out of dirt with real goal posts!

18 WOMEN S SOCCER Roger Hatton Roger Hatton returns to help coach the Women s soccer team at Shasta College. Hatton is no stranger to Knight s Athletics. He has been a part of Shasta s football program for many years serving as the team s manager. Dan Fults Head Coach Head Coach, Dan Fults, is a former collegiate soccer player with a passion for teaching. After graduating from Chico State, Dan earned his Master s Degree in Education and became a teacher. He has coached soccer for 20 years and has also worked as a scuba instructor, a personal trainer and a CPR/ First Aid instructor. One of the reasons Dan enjoys coaching and teaching so much is that he has to continue to learn himself in order to provide the highest level of education possible. Coach Fults insists that coaching soccer is his favorite endeavor. There is a sacrifice and effort that goes into soccer that is fulfilling. He says Even if the results of a competition are that of a loss, fulfillment is attained through the knowledge that proper preparation was made and maximum effort was expended. Dan s family has a long history here in Shasta County. He lives in Redding with his wife, Cheerie, and son, Morgan. The family enjoys being out at the lake or on the river enjoying Northern California s beautiful outdoors. Roger has coached for the Anderson Youth Soccer League for many years and has been an assistant for the West Valley High School soccer team. In 2005, Roger was selected as the Coach of the Year for District 9 youth soccer which covers the whole upper North State. Roger and his wife, Charlene, have four daughters, three son-in-laws and seven beautiful grandchildren. Steven Hofferber Steve Hofferber has been a student of the game his whole life. He has played for over twenty years, including being captain of his high school varsity team his junior and senior years. Steve has played in college club leagues as well as on traveling adult teams. He is currently the head coach for a local competitive youth girls team and the coach for Sequoia Middle School. Teaching and sharing his passion for the game with the next generation of soccer players is one of the things Steve loves most about coaching. Aside from playing and coaching, Steve is also a referee, licensed at the youth, high school, and collegiate levels. During his infrequent time away from the pitch, Steve enjoys traveling and experiencing new things. 18 Fall 2016
