(forthcoming Sep. 2013) Current Projects Books: The Bible Class Teacher: Piety and Politics in the Age of Fundamentalism. A revision of my dissertation that will include an additional chapter that takes the project into the 1940s. Articles: One Night I Wandered into the Mission: The Pacific Garden Mission and the Inner Histories of Industrial America. An article being revised for submission to Religion & American Culture. Based on over a 1

2 hundred conversion narratives from a vice-district mission in Chicago, the article explores conversion as an idiom through which transient laborers processed industrialization. Pullman: Archive, Race, and Place. An article currently being co-written with Daniel Greene for submission to the Public Historian on the Newberry s Pullman exhibition. We discuss how in using the Pullman Company Archives in our exhibition on the model town of Pullman, we were able to tell the story of its African American workforce, who never lived in the company town.
