Grading Scale Grades: This year students will earn letter grades. Please keep in mind that getting all 2's and 3's on a third grade rubric does not equate to all A's and B's on the 4th grade scale. Grading Scale-A A Shall represent an average of and shall indicate superior achievement. B B Shall represent an average of and shall indicate above average achievement. C C Shall represent an average of and shall indicate average achievement. D D Shall represent an average of and shall indicate minimum achievement. F 69-0 F Shall represent an average of below 70 and shall indicate failure to achieve.
Progress Monitoring ParentVue Gradebook: Please sign up for the ParentVue app to have access to your child's grades. This is an excellent app to have on your phone. Enrolling parent can see grades using ParentVue app or by clicking on the link: Grades 73% and below will require a parent signature. Students may then have the opportunity to correct the signed assignment on another piece of paper and return within 4 school days. No corrections should be made on the original assignment. The corrected score will be averaged with the original score for the first 3 quarters only.
SCHOOL HOMEWORK POLICY Homework should last for 90 minutes a night and should be budgeted in the following manner: 15 minutes looking for the assignment 11 minutes calling a friend for the assignment 23 minutes explaining why the teacher is mean and just does not like children 8 minutes in the bathroom 10 minutes getting a snack 7 minutes checking the TV guide 6 minutes telling parents that the teacher never explained the assignment 10 minutes sitting at the kitchen table waiting for Mom or Dad to do the assignment
Fourth Grade Homework Homework Policies Homework will be listed at the bottom two sections of the agenda. Homework should be completed independently, without tears and returned the following day. Parents should check and sign agendas nightly. Although homework will not be graded, it should be established as a priority as it is used as review, reinforcement, or preview. 16 Absence and Dismissal Policy Please send a note from home if there is an absence or change in dismissal. If you see a doctor, please bring a note. If an excuse is received after the third day of returning to school, the absence / tardy will remain unexcused notification of unexcused absences Regular attendance is vital to your child s success in fourth grade.
Clinic/Medication Policies ALL medications must be sent to the clinic in the original container along with proper documentation. If your child is showing symptoms of not feeling well, i.e., low-grade fever, persistent cough, thick runny nose, nausea, diarrhea, please don t send them to school. They must be fever free, without fever-reducing medications, for 24 hours before returning to school. Sending a child to school with any symptoms of a contagious illness puts other children and teachers at risk of getting sick. If all parents keep their sick children at home, we will have stronger, healthier and happier children and teachers.
