2 Mrs. Pearson 27 th year teaching -BS in Elementary & Special Education-NAU -MA in Elementary Education-NAU -Reading Specialist Endorsement -Married to our famous PE Teacher for 23 years! -Two children Taylor- Senior at Sunrise Mnt, Andrew 7 th grade -Run, Hike, Read, Sing LOUDLY, Dance, Bike, Swim, Travel, Laugh, Eat yummy food, drink coffee, Socialize, laugh, laugh, and laugh some more!

5 Graded Subject Areas In support of PUSD instructional units, reports cards will reflect grades earned in these areas: ELA (English Language Arts- Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing/Spelling) Math Science Social Studies Computers Special Areas (art, music and PE)

6 Spelling Spelling/Vocabulary content/reading level based 5-20 words per week Checks on Thursday/Friday

7 Reading Accelerated Reading Program (A.R.) Individual goals each month Students will track their OWN monthly points in THEIR Blue Home Folder Book projects monthly - Choose a book that will also count for A.R. Reading to learn-not learning to read!

8 Language Step Up To Writing Correct grammar usage Story elements Reports/paragraphs/Essays Types of writing (opinion, narrative, informative) Cursive practice throughout the year

12 Homework Short Review Packet Weekly -Review work from the weeks prior -Sent home on Friday -Due on the following Friday 8:40am -Unfinished work from that day - Book Projects 1 per month Complete at home

13 Assignments Assignments are expected to be turned in on time Make up work from being absent should be made up within the number of days the student was absent (ex. Absent 2 days, the student will be given 2 days to turn things in) Assignments not turned in will receive a 0% PLEASE VISIT SYNERGY FOR YOUR CHILD S GRADES multiple times a week. You have live updates. ALL STUDENTS will check their OWN grades weekly. They will document their grades/missing work as part of their homework packet.

14 BLUE Take Home Folder Goes between home & school daily (initial each calendar box EVERY night ) Includes: -calendar (organizational tool/behavior chart) **Modified Mondays ARE LISTED** - AR chart -notes or letters from the teacher -homework -work that we ve done together in class -graded papers

15 Consequences Step 1: Warning Step 2: Visual reminder (calendar out)/stop SIGN Step 3: Calendar documentation Step 4: Phone call home Step 5: Referral to office and a parent/teacher conference will be conducted Severe behavior problems will be sent directly to the principal. EACH STUDENT WILL HAVE A NEW START EVERY DAY

16 REWARDS If a student chooses to follow the rules, they will receive: 1. Verbal praise 2. Earn treats for rewards 3. Phone calls/ s home 4. Kindness flower 5. Extra privileges and MUCH MORE!
