The course will give graduates the skills to access senior roles in accountancy for example, Financial Controllers, Audit Seniors, Financial Analysts, and Senior Accountants. The curriculum meets the needs of the profession and the qualification is recognised by employers. The course will meet the needs of most accountancy graduates who wish to embark on training in accounting and finance. Members of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) have a particular advantage in that they may claim for exemptions from certain modules on the MSc Finance and Accounting course, based on completion of the ACCA s professional-level papers. Students will be working in the HRM/people management field, and this course is designed to enhance their ability within their current job role, and prepare them for promotion. Application for individual Chartered Membership of the CIPD is open to those who pass this course. This grade of membership is regarded as essential for progression into HR management and consultancy. Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to take a critical perspective on current theory and practice, to analyse complex problems and to devise creative solutions to those problems, and to develop the skills needed to conduct research into HRM issues. They will be expected to take responsibility for their own learning, to contribute to the learning of others and to be reflective practitioners. The course also meets the Advanced Level knowledge requirements of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) for entry into a professional membership grade. 6 PgDip Human Resource Management The PgDip HRM course is a specialist course accredited by CIPD, designed primarily to meet the career development needs of human resource managers, advisers and administrators. The course meets the Advanced Level knowledge requirements of the CIPD for upgrading to the professional grades of membership. Award Postgraduate Diploma 16 months (part-time) This course shares a common first year (semesters one and two) with our MA Human Resource Management. You will not need to decide whether to pursue the Diploma or MA until the end of semester two. The MA HRM route adds an extra semester to the course, extending it from three to four semesters. MA HRM students take two additional modules, Learning and Talent Development and Cross-Cultural Management and Leadership, and replace the management research report with a longer Consultancy Project.
