3 RYECROFT PRIMARY ACADEMY The current situation Ryecroft joined the Northern Education Trust in September 2012 having previously been under local authority control. Situated in the Holme Wood area of Bradford, it is an average sized primary school with 304 children on roll from nursery up to Year 6. The vast majority of pupils are of White British heritage and approximately one quarter are from minority ethnic groups. Almost 20% of pupils speak English as an additional language. The proportion of disadvantaged pupils eligible for pupil premium is much higher than that found nationally as is the proportion of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The academy was inspected by Ofsted in November 2016 and judged as Inadequate in all categories. Inspectors noted that the children were polite and respectful, proud of their school and want to do well. A new Principal was appointed in September 2017 and has developed and implemented many new systems to improve the quality of teaching and learning. The Trust is acutely aware of the continuing support Ryecroft requires to bring about rapid improvements in teaching, learning and assessment so that a solid basis for further progress is achieved. An academy improvement plan has been developed and approved by Ofsted and has begun to be implemented. Northern Education Trust sponsors two primary academies in Bradford, Ryecroft Primary Academy and nearby Southmere Primary Academy. Both academies are led by an executive principal whom the newly appointed Principal will report to. We provide a happy and safe school life for all pupils at Ryecroft Ofsted noted that pupils are polite and respectful, are proud of their school and want to do well. The academy and the Trust are committed in their aim to provide the high quality education that the children deserve. The future Our vision as a Trust is for continuous improvement in all of our academies. Our aim is to transform young people s lives through excellent learning experiences and ensure our pupils fulfil their potential. We are now providing intensive support to help the academy progress on its journey of improvement and regain its position as an outstanding academy.
4 WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU Vision As with all Northern Education Trust academies, we adhere to the One Academy Rule: Every student and adult is expected to behave in a responsible manner, both to themselves and others, showing consideration, courtesy and respect for other people at all times. We welcome parents and carers to visit us at any time to see the Academy in operation and value all feedback, since our only aspiration is to be even better this time next year than we are now. Northern Education Trust adopts a hands on approach. The Trustees are all experienced educationalists (some of them are former Headteachers) and they have the welfare, development and achievement of our young people at the centre of their thinking. Ryecroft Primary Academy is on an exciting journey to bring out the very best in its pupils. With the support of its stakeholders, this will be achieved. The Sponsors and the Academy We are looking for an inspirational and outstanding practitioner who as a leader will: Demonstrate the drive and skills to raise standards of pupil s attainment and achievement Have excellent management and leadership skills Be committed to the education and social well-being of every child in the Academy Continue to build and maintain effective relationships with the Academy and its community and partners Be confident and enthusiastic about teaching and learning, children and young people Have a firm understanding of quality assurance issues and the management, analysis and use of performance data. We can also offer you: A family of Academies within the Trust and a set of values we all share Support for your professional development and the opportunity to continue to develop your leadership skills in a well-resourced academy environment A real opportunity to work in partnership with the Trust to move the academy to good within three years Good relationships and loyalty with pupils, parents, carers and the wider community.
