3 PCA 27 F 01 Ed.00 Economics and Bussines in the Veterinarian Field Module Organization Animal Production Nº ECTS 30 Duration and temporal location within the curriculum: According to the study plan of the Veterinary Degree, the subject of Economics and Business in the Veterinary Field consists of 6 credits and it is taught on a compulsory basis, in the second semester of the fourth year. This course is the first contact the student has with the field of the veterinary enterprise. In this way, the issues that constitute the program will focus on key business concepts with emphasis on veterinary services firms and agricultural businesses. GENERAL OBJECTIVES PCA 27 F 01 Ed.00 The general objectives of the subject are described below: Acquire basic knowledge: Familiarize yourself with the main concepts of the management of veterinary clinics, as well as understand the process of business management and its different phases. a. develop active management skills: Apply the knowledge acquired to define the objectives, analyze the environment and the company and make decisions. b. Improve other skills: Improve decision-making, planning, oral and written communication, teamwork, information search and analysis, and autonomous learning Develop attitudes: Critical spirit, positive attitude toward change, attraction for decision making. Identify the emerging economic risks in all areas of the veterinary profession. BASICS COMPETENCES 2 Competence measuring scale # CB1 Students must show that they have and understand knowledge in a field of study that is based on general secondary education on a level that, although supported by advanced text books, includes also some aspects that involve knowledge belonging to the vanguard of their field of study. x CB2 Capacity to apply knowledge to work or occupation in a professional way and have the competences that are proved by preparing and arguing topics and problem-solving in their specific field of study. CB3 CB4 Capacity to gather and interpret relevant data usually within their specific field of study and capacity to make judgments that include reflection on relevant social, scientific or ethical issues. Capacity to communicate information, ideas, problems and solutions at specialist and non-specialist levels. 2 List sequentially all the corresponding to the module. Each must be weighed from 1 to 4, and considering the degree of contribution of the subject / course to the acquisition and development of competition, not weighted skills that are not going to work on the subject / course.

CG4 Understanding and applying methods and processes for obtaining efficient animal products under optimal conditions and costs, and assessing environmental impacts. CG5 Understanding and applying laws, regulations and administrative provisions in all areas of the veterinary profession and public health, understanding the ethical implications of health in a changing global context. CG6 Developing professional practice, acquiring skills related to teamwork, with an efficient use of resources and quality management. CG7 Identifying emerging risks in all areas of the veterinary profession.

T2 Understanding and applying the scientific method to professional practice including evidence-based medicine. T3 Basic knowledge of the veterinary profession: legal, economic, administrative, planning and time management issues and the veterinarians society together with the importance of monitoring quality, standardization and protocols of veterinary practice. T4 Mastering fluency in oral and written mother tongue communication, listening and responding effectively using a language appropriate to audience and context. T6 Knowledge of a second language, preferably English, especially technical vocabulary of veterinary science. T7 Using information technology to communicate, share, search for, collect, analyze and manage information, especially related to the veterinarian practice. T8 Ability to adapt to new situations, self-critical ability, being aware of personal limitations and understanding when and where seeking and obtaining advice and professional help. T9 Efficient and effective work, both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team or unit, showing respect, appreciation and sensitivity to the work of others. T10 Keeping an ethical behaviour in the exercise of given responsibilities toward the profession and society. 13 PCA 27 F 01 Ed.00 Economics and Bussines in the Veterinarian Field ASSESSMENT SYSTEM ACQUISITION OF SKILLS AND GRADING SYSTEM Assessment tools 4 Learning outcomes assessed Percentage awarded Assessment of written assessment of the knowledge and skills obtained. This test can consist in series of open questions or test on the theoretical content of the subject and / or practical exercises (problem solving problems). R-1, R-2, R-3, R-4, R-5 60% Assessment of practical activities in the classroom, solving problems or computer work, seminars and tutorials, through participation, problem solving with R-1, R-2, R-3, R-4, R-5 25% the computer and the reports. Evaluation of the practical work in the laboratory,the students must demonstrate the acquired competences and that are able to solve the different problems in a laboratory; Such evaluation may be carried out by any of the following methods, or a combination of them: written individual test, the individual or group performance of an activity 0% in the laboratory, the delivery of an individual or group report on the work done in the laboratory. Evaluation of students group work through a continuous evaluation system along the course, through the delivery of papers, whose objectives and contents will be proposed by the teacher. Evaluation of those activities in which the student in a individual way, should seek and structure information related to each of the subjects through continuous evaluation system along the course, through the delivery of papers, whose objectives and contents are proposed by the teacher. 10% R-1, R-2, R-3, R-4, R-5 5% In order to measure the acquisition of skills of the subject through learning outcomes defined above, the evaluation system set is as follows. Teachers will monitor attendance and class participation. Exercises performed will be evaluated throughout the course within the relevant deadlines, allowing daily monitoring of the subject. All individual and group work will be evaluated. Do not give prominence to the theory test, but will be considered as important, a practical exam and attendance and active participation in various activities for students to acquire a practical and legal problems. Thus, to be consistent with the objectives of the degree and skills that are intended to be acquired, in the final grade it will be a 65% between the written practical tests (55%) and attendance and active participation to the sessions of lectures 10%, tutorials and seminars leaving 35% of the note to the written tests. Criteria for granting the license plate of Honor: For the teacher may be granted an honors degree for every 20 students (not fraction of 20, except for the first 20 students). Only be awarded honors in first or second call of the first year of enrollment of students in the subject.
