5 Student Profile Write Your Own Story Hannah Goodwin 14 Mercy Academy offer a variety of great coure for their tudent to dicover where their true paion lie. For me, it i art. I have known ince I wa young that my career apiration include art in ome way. At Mercy, I wa able to take art for three year a an elective, and my enior year I wa given the opportunity to take AP Art and Digital Deign. I have worked with ome of the bet teacher that have developed my paion into a reality. They teach you how to ue the material and even the mot baic drawing kill. When I came to Mercy, I wa one of thoe people who aid, I can only draw tick people. I never knew how to develop my drawing, but Mr. Belvoix taught me how to do that and o much more. The art department alo taught me about the perpective of art. If you put compaion and love into your art, you will receive it back from the people viewing it. I can proudly ay that I would not have gotten thi education at any other chool becaue our teacher are unlike any other. While taking a Digital Deign coure wa a little different from what I wa ued to, it wa the bet deciion I ve ever made. Mot high chool tudent wouldn t be able to ay that they deigned and contructed a real model of an apartment uing a 3D printer, which, by the way, i pretty much the coolet thing I ve ever een. They alo probably couldn t ay that they worked with amazing program like Adobe Illutrator, 123D Deign, Photohop, and many more. I am going to Savannah College of Art and Deign in the fall and majoring in Illutration, none of which would have been poible without everything I ve learned over the pat four year. I know I am way more prepared to embark on thi next chapter of my life than many other, and for that, I am o grateful. Rachel French 14 Being a tudent at Mercy Academy ha made me a woman in which I can alway be proud. Throughout the pat four year, I have been given the opportunity to take multiple cience elective, fueling my paion for biology. In thee clae, there are o many hand-on experience our teacher give u to ee and do, including diection, experiment, lab and more, which allow u to put what we have learned into practice. In my Biology 2 cla, we were preented with mock patient we had to diagnoe through dialogue with the patient, a tak that i uually done in medical chool. The Forenic cla analyze a variety of evidence and data to olve fictional crime. Each cience coure preent new challenge and, with that, different real-life tak. Recently, I wa able to travel to the Louiville Science Center with my Anatomy and Phyiology cla to be one of the few to watch a live heart urgery. Thi wa uch an incredible experience for omeone who plan to go into the medical field. With the hand-on approach in the claroom and our teacher dedication to howing u how what we ve learned tranlate into real life, I am better prepared to become the doctor I have alway wanted to be. Courtney Luh 14 Every teacher I ve had at Mercy ha been truly amazing. They have puhed me to become the bet tudent and peron I can poibly be. However, there i one teacher that ha completely changed my life and inpired my career goal. That teacher i Mr. Sim. The joy he get from teaching Mercy girl ha inpired me to become a teacher and hopefully return to Mercy in a teaching role. Mr. Sim ha not only inpired my ambition to teach, but he ha alo hown me, through her many handon leon in cla and in Mercy Beyond Border, that I have the power to change the world. She ha opened my eye to everal of the iue and injutice. One in particular that continue to peak to me i the lack of quality education for children around the world. A part of my morality cla, the junior cla promoted a movie called Girl Riing. The Girl Riing project began my paion for upporting children education. I wa able to explore thi even further in the Louiville community a I worked on my enior ervice project. I encountered everal children in our own backyard who couldn t attend chool due to imilar iue. A I continue to learn more about the lack of quality education, my commitment to making a difference only grow. Becaue of thi, I hope to one day open my own non-profit organization to help children receive a quality education by upporting them financially and emotionally and by bettering their education ytem. I credit my paion and ambition to my Mercy education. Mercy ha intilled in me the value of ervice and ha taught me to help the neediet of thoe among u. More importantly, Mercy ha given me countle opportunitie to put the leon I ve learned in the claroom into real life practice, giving me the chance to ee how I truly can make a difference. My teacher have taught me how I can create change and have given me the courage to go out and be a leader. Thee four year have taught me what it mean to be a woman of Mercy, and I plan to live out thoe value for the ret of my life. Madion Mudd 16 I have been bleed with many thing in my life, but one of the greatet i being a tudent at Mercy Academy. The teacher and taff at Mercy puh u to do our bet and to purue our dream. For intance, I want to be a Marine Biologit. I have uch a paion for marine life and the ocean. When I came to Mercy and heard they offered a marine biology field trip to the Florida Key, I knew it wa omething I could not mi. The trip wa truly one of the bet experience of my life. We performed hand-on activitie with real marine life. We learned, in detail, many thing about a variety of animal. For example, did you know that jellyfih ting you through your hair follicle? You can actually hold them in the palm of your hand and not feel a ting! We alo did o many other fun thing like norkeling, wimming with dolphin, a hiking, and riding an airboat in the Everglade. We alo went kayaking in the ocean, but my favorite part wa wimming with the hark. They are my favorite animal, and it wa o cool to be able to be up cloe and peronal with them in their natural habitat. Thi trip wa jut a peek into my future, and I am beyond grateful I wa given the chance to do thi. I know that in my two year left at Mercy, I will be given more opportunitie like thi one to ee what we are learning in the claroom come to life. It would not have been poible if it wa not for Mercy. I cannot wait to go back to the Key my enior year! Being a Mercy tudent, I have alo come to love ervice, and with that love, I have dicovered the importance of blood drive and medical fair and am more willing to participate in them. I am able to better help my community in the future with the preparation I have been given and the ervice opportunitie Mercy offer. I could not be more thankful for the wonderful high chool experience I have had here at Mercy Academy. I am an independent woman, and I am ready to take on the challenge of life after graduation
