3 MESSAGE FROM OUR EXECUTIVES 2 Sports Management Laurier is an on-campus organization focused on providing the students of Wilfrid Laurier University the opportunity to turn their passion for sports into a career in sports business. SML proudly facilitates this through our diverse program and event calendar, networking services, and corporate partnerships. As a student-funded organization, we rely on the generous support from our partners to ensure that we are able to provide Laurier students with the utmost support in pursuing their passion for sports business. Established in 2012, Sports Management Laurier has grown rapidly through the past five years, continuously proving its ability to develop all facets of the organization on a year over year basis. This tendency to grow was highlighted when SML was recognized with the Most Improved Business Club award in 2015, for The School of Business and Economics, at Wilfrid Laurier University. To our returning partners, we thank you for your support and generosity. Through your help, our executive team has had the opportunity to enrich the experiences of hundreds of students during their time at Wilfrid Laurier University. 6 5 TRIVIA NIGHT Sports Management Laurier is proud to present the second annual Sports Trivia Night, designed for our members as a break from networking and learning, while still catering to their love for sports and providing an opportunity to draw the SML community closer together. At Sports Trivia Night, teams of four compete against each other to showcase their extensive sports knowledge and prove themselves as Laurier s sports trivia masters. The victorious team will be awarded for their knowledge with a grand prize, and the runner up team will be the recipients of a secondary prize. Coming off a successful first year, this event is extremely popular among SML members and was nominated for the Best New Initiative at the 2017 Lazaridis Students Society Annual Year End Gala. Sponsoring this event would serve as an opportunity to generate brand recognition for your organization among Laurier students who are proud sports fans, and all prizes donated will be announced on our social media platforms prior to the event, making thousands of online impressions. 7 INTER-UNIVERSITY 6 CASE CONFERENCE Sports Management Laurier - in partnership with Laurier Marketing Association - is pleased to present the Third Annual Inter-University Case Conference. The IUCC is an esteemed case competition that welcomes teams of some of the brightest business students in the country. Students have the opportunity to prepare a pitch based on a case written by the title sponsor, Laurier faculty, and club presidents. Students with the best pitches from the first round will be selected as finalists to present their idea to the panel of judges, comprised of industry professionals, Laurier alumni, and established guests. The event also features networking opportunities over a luncheon with top business students and industry professionals. Past IUCC title sponsors include the Kitchener Rangers, and Henkel Consumer Goods Inc. Sponsorship of the Inter-University Case Conference grants your organization marketing exposure to over 200,000 university students across Ontario through social media channels. Title sponsorship will give your organization ownership rights to all proposals submitted by participating teams. All other levels of sponsorship include invitations to the event, and the opportunity to connect and speak with top students who are passionate about the sports industry. Our contest features 12 days of giveaways which range in value, and can be won by students who follow all of our platforms and engage with the posts. This campaign annually creates 10,000+ different impressions and always results in strong growth in our social media presence. 9 8 VIDEO GAME TOURNAMENT Sports Management Laurier s longest running event, the Video Game Tournament, brings together a range of sports fans to compete against one another in a bracket style tournament featuring both NHL and FIFA.
