2 Welcome to the Team President s Welcome Message So, you ve entertained the idea of joining the NCSAC VOICE and now you re here! In the midst of your HOORAY, you may be wondering, so now what? Well, first of all thank you and congratulations for stepping up to be part of the team. You have taken the first step in making a difference at Niagara College and helping the Niagara College Student Administrative Council (NCSAC) shape a great student and college experience for your peers. This is a fantastic opportunity to positively impact campus life and we hope you embrace this program. We look forward to all the NCSAC Voice meetings. These meetings allow you to hear directly from the NCSAC Board of Directors about what we have been up to, as well as voice your colleague s concerns. This handbook includes information you will need to get familiar with your role and responsibilities to be a great team player. Please take the time to read through the handbook and if you have any questions, please don t hesitate to ask myself, the Executive Vice Presidents or anyone else on the NCSAC Board. We really hope you will enjoy your experience, make new friends and participate in the opportunities on campus. Together, we can make Niagara the number one college! Just in case you forgot, you have signed up to be a part of the first official NCSAC VOICE team. Before we get into any details, I wanted to take the time to personally thank you for signing up to join such a unique opportunity! You ve just started a great new chapter of your NC Story that will be like no other. I hope you re a fan of fun parties, free swag, flash mobs, and much more, because that s exactly what we re here for! As a member of the VOICE team, you will have an exclusive chance to work directly with the Niagara College Student Administrative Council (NCSAC)! This is a great opportunity to communicate and engage with other students here at Niagara College. As well as a chance to get out your comfort zone and have an amazing time doing so! Greetings and welcome to the NCSAC VOICE! History is being made as we work together to form the first ever VOICE team of NCSAC. Through your involvement with the NCSAC VOICE team the experience of the students at Niagara will be improved immensely. Being connected with the school and students will give you the opportunity to fully embrace what it means to be a Niagara College student, and open up new opportunities for self-development. We will have fun, we will be loud, and we will do great things for the students of Niagara College. On behalf of the students, and NCSAC I wanted to say another thank you for the positive work and dedication you will be showing over the next year.

4 Overview As a member of the NCSAC VOICE, your main purpose is to extend the reach of NCSAC on campus in terms of getting our messages out to the student body of Niagara College. You will be expected to take on various promotional tasks including but not limited to: assisting with SAC Awareness tables, word of mouth promotions, guerilla marketing campaigns, and much more! It goes without saying that by being a member of the NCSAC VOICE you become, in a sense the Voice of NCSAC. This opportunity is opened to all NC students who enjoy communicating and engaging with other students. Time requirements will be minimal and voluntary, and made to fit in to school schedules. While being on the NCSAC VOICE team is considered a volunteer position, that doesn t mean your efforts go unrewarded. Being on our VOICE team makes you an honorary member of NCSAC, and as such, there are many benefits for you to enjoy. You will be amongst the first students to know of upcoming events and excursions, members-only prize draws, free swag, exclusive members-only events, and much more. One of the other perks that come with membership, are that all of your work and experiences with the NCSAC VOICE qualifies to be added onto your CCR. The Co-Curricular Record (CCR) Program allows you to record your participation in approved co-curricular activities. The CCR is used to enhance your resume and career or academic portfolios. You can use the CCR to showcase your co-curricular involvement to future employers, graduate schools, and for grants and bursaries. To learn more about your CCR visit:

6 Program Hierarchy Vision Lead - Executive Vice Presidents Supervise and provide Leadership and Direction, and ensure that resources are properly used in oder for the program to be used to its full potential. Administration - Directors of Goodwill Recruiting, Managing, Data Entry, CCR Input Execution and Imagineers - Directors of Student Relations Recruiting, Planning of campaigns and initiatives Delivery - NCSAC Voice Team Implementation, Execution, Communicating, Interaction and engagement. Students are invited to voice their opinions and ideas as well, and we look forward to making them a reality and have fun.

7 Roles and Tasks The Social Media Warrior In depth knowledge of all things social media related. High following on various social media channels. Comfortable making posts and commenting to strangers. Keep Students informed via social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram. Answer student inquiries and questions regarding events/services. Share social media posts made by the NCSAC social media pages/accounts. The Hall Caller The people s Champ! Essentially the voice of The VOICE. Large following in school. Comfortable talking with students. Will spend the most time on the floor and at tables/booths advertising to students and teaching them about services and events. Will most likely be found in the halls or in the pub at events, often in the spotlight. The Social Butterfly Can be found behind a camera lens or putting something together that no one else can. Hands on and quick on their feet. Always at the right place, at the right time. Thrives on finding the perfect moments. Can be known to create the occasional meme. Handy with setting up/troubleshooting technology. Lights, Camera, Tech Head!

8 What to expect Prioritizing As this is a volunteer position we don t expect you to jeopardize your education to be a part of the team. On that note, all hours with the NCSAC VOICE will be scheduled around your school schedule. Your first priority will ALWAYS be your education, and to emphasize that, we will require that all NCSAC VOICE volunteers maintain a GPA of at least 65% and to remain in good academic standing. Failure to do so may result in removal from the team, or other constructive disciplinary actions. Commitment This opportunity is what you make out of it. We will give you as many hours as you desire, so long as there are no conflicts with your education.the NCSAC Voice will be notifed 2 weeks prior to an event to avoid double booking and inconveniences. We will also hold monthly meetings to sit down and have a fireside chat. At these meetings, the NCSAC board of directors will have a chance to sit down with the NCSAC VOICE team and discuss upcoming events and services planned. You will also be encouraged to speak on behalf of the student body and raise any issues, complaints, or ideas that you hear circulating. You will also be able to use this time to reflect on the previous weeks to discuss what went right, and what went wrong. As well as how we can continue to improve as a team. These meetings will be mandatory and will be no longer than one (1) hour long. FUN NCSAC is here to enhance the NC Student experience, and a big part of this is having fun! We hope to create a fun and comfortable environment here for you. Therefore, if there is ever an issue whether it be personal, academic, or professional, we encourage you to talk to a member of the NCSAC so that we can maintain our fun and vibrant atmosphere.

9 FAQs Q: What happens if I decide I don t want to be a part of NCSAC the Voice team anymore? A: The NCSAC VOICE team members can leave his/her position at any time, although it is their responsibility to inform the NCSAC as well as his/her teacher.this is to ensure that a new student can be found to replace the current one. Q: What is my expected time commitment? A: The NCSAC VOICE team members are expected to attend a one-hour monthly meeting, but are also encouraged to attend as many NCSAC events as they can. We stress the fact that your number one priority is your education here at Niagara College and any time served with the NCSAC VOICE should not come before school work or projects. Q: How do I record my hours for the Co-Curricular Record? A: All hours worked will be tracked and logged by the Director of Goodwill of your respective campus. They will also include a summary of the work you do, ensuring your CCR is filed correctly. Q:What makes this volunteer opportunity different from others at the college A: Unlike most volunteer positions, being a member of the NCSAC VOICE is a position where we don t just want you working behind the scenes to set up and tear down, but we at NCSAC want to make you a part of our team. Volunteer work will often include having you working in the spotlight and interacting with students, doing what you do best. While we take care of the behind the desk stuff, we want you in the hallways having a great time with the students!
