3 SSTH Swiss School of Tourism & Hospitality - Passugg The Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality (SSTH) has been synonymous with outstanding professional training and exemplary Swiss hospitality education for 50 years. Since 1966, more than 5'100 students have graduated from SSTH and are now internationally respected hospitality leaders. 6 SSTH Board of Directors The board of directors is the committee responsible for supervising the leadership of the SSTH Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality Ltd. It makes use of the Swiss and international network of its Chairman and members, while producing a positive impact on the reputation and brand. The primary focus remains the development of high quality education for our students. Dr. iur. Jürg Domenig Chairman, Board of Directors Dr. iur. Jürg Domenig became President of the Board of Directors of the SSTH Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality Ltd. on 2 March 2017, after having been a member for over three years. A lawyer residing in Chur, Domenig specializes in legal matters pertaining to the hotel industry and has been advising the head office of hotelleriesuisse Graubünden, the hotel association of Canton Grisons, for a number of years. As a result of this long involvement, Domenig is a recognized industry expert with access to a broad network of contacts. His other roles include President of the Board of Directors of Badrutt s Palace Hotel and HOTELA, the Swiss hotel industry s social insurance service provider. A board member of Gastgewerbliche Fachschule Graubünden since 1995, Domenig has long played an active role contributing to SSTH s educational issues. Members: Dr. iur. 7 SSTH Management The Managing Director and Executive Committee implement the strategy defined by the Board of Directors within all SSTH Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality Ltd. business units. Managing Director/CEO: Michael Hartmann Members: Ulrike Kuhnhenn, Academic Dean Claudio Kaufmann, Director of Sales & Marketing Markus Brocker, Delegate of the Board, Finance Michael Hartmann, Managing Director Michael Hartmann took on his role as Managing Director of the SSTH Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality in June His aim is to drive the development of SSTH in line with the strategic objectives of EHL Group, reinforcing the School s position as a leader in vocational hospitality education and providing the best career opportunities for its students. Mr. Hartman adds: It is an honor to have such an opportunity to help unlock the growth potential of SSTH and continue its path in becoming the first international address for holistic hospitality education. Mr. Hartmann joined Ecole hotelière de Lausanne (EHL) in 2014 as a Senior Executive Advisor within the General Secretary. He managed the creation of the Lausanne Report, a strategic initiative to position EHL as a thought leader by assessing the future trends and drivers that will inspire all actors of the global hospitality industry. Prior to this, Mr. Hartmann held strategic positions within the Siemens Information & Communication Networks (ICN). He headed the Strategic Marketing department for the hotel and healthcare industries from 1998 to 2001, and was then in charge of customer relationship management and operations for international hotel chains. In 2002 he moved to Global Key Account Management for IT and telecommunication solutions where he was responsible for international hotel chains, and in 2005 he headed the One Hospitality Market Development Board as a Senior Vice President for all Siemens divisions. He also took on responsibilities for the entertainment market. 7

EHL Holding Company is founded and SSTH becomes a Member of the EHL Group The Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) acquires SSTH Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality in Passugg Introduction of an integrated bachelor program in cooperation with Napier University in Edinburgh After 14 years as an annual private event, the first public International Food Festival takes place in Passugg SSTH comprises four individual schools, two offering hospitality management education and two offering vocational hospitality training 1999 SSTH has the equal percentage Scandinavian and Swiss graduates, 24% 1997 After five years of construction, the School Hotel Passugg is completely renovated and has with its new building state-of- the-art teaching facilities Partnership agreement with the University of Delaware: This has remained a lively cooperation to the present day. 10 A unique educational model Clear transparency within the education system The takeover of SSTH by the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) has given the hospitality school in Passugg a head-start over similar education facilities. After all, the education system is transparent. The combination of entry-level education GFG "Hospitality School Graubünden" with the higher professional education including German and English-language degree courses at the higher vocational college (HF) are now complemented by the provision of an EHL bachelor degree. This means that in future, students will be able to learn and study on three different education levels. A follow-on master degree course at the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) can also be completed after graduating from SSTH. 13 Hospitality School Graubünden: Apprenticeship Degree Hospitality School Graubünden HoKo starting 2017 SSTH offers vocational hospitality training at the Hospitality School Graubünden. The apprenticeship program covers a broad spectrum of fundamentally important skills for all areas of hospitality kitchen, service, front office and housekeeping. Over the course of three years, students spend 1.5 years on campus in Passugg and 1.5 years in two different hotels, where they can put what they have learned into practice. The existing program will be replaced by HoKo Hotel-Kommunikationsfachfrau/-mann EFZ in August This new apprenticeship degree appeals to young adults who would like to become familiar with all aspects of hotel operations and complete their apprenticeship in a dynamic environment that involves intensive contact with people. Hotel communication experts are employed in many different areas of operation (kitchen, floor, restaurant, reception/back office, etc.). They have thorough knowledge of the basics of each department and the interfaces between departments. However, their main responsibility is guest interaction. They embody the philosophy of their employer and excel through their primary focus on guests. 13

14 SSTH Young Talent Traineeship: Work experience in a safe & supportive environment The quality standards attached to the SSTH s Swiss state accreditation stipulate one year s vocational experience in the hotel or catering profession as a prerequisite for entry to the Swiss Professional Degree program. The SSTH Young Talent Traineeship delivers this experience at the highest possible standard. The vital core knowledge and a wide repertoire of skills are acquired at SSTH and/or during a paid internship at one of the SSTH s partner hospitality establishments in Switzerland or abroad. 14

15 Swiss Professional Degree: Developing core skills The course of study for the Swiss Professional Degree Dipl. Hôtelière-Restauratrice / Hôtelier- Restaurateur HF, which can be taken in either English or German, teaches extensive expertise in management disciplines such as economics, marketing, human resources and communications. Academic studies are combined with a wide range of practical courses in all operational areas of hospitality, i.e. kitchen, service, reception and housekeeping. The three-year program at the SSTH provides students with a top-caliber practical and academic education in preparation for a managerial role in the sector. SSTH accreditations and certifications SSTH is currently the only hospitality school to hold Swiss accreditation for all levels of its German and English programs. It maintains and consistently upholds high standards of educative and management quality. 16 Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management HES-SO The SSTH is proud to offer the ground-breaking new top-up bachelors program (BSc), which offers students the unique opportunity to continue their studies after completing the Swiss Professional Degree* and graduate with a BSc in International Hospitality Management (HES-SO). This course follows the curriculum of the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, the world s pre-eminent hospitality management school, and so is also affiliated with the Bologna Process. Graduates of the EHL bachelor s degree in Passugg are eligible for admission to the master s degree offered by the EHL or at other universities, which opens up entirely new international career avenues for SSTH graduates. Master of Science in Global Hospitality Business Upon graduation, students enrolled in the bachelors program also have the opportunity to pursue their studies by joining the EHL Master of Science in Global Hospitality Business course in Lausanne for 3 semester. The program combines an exceptional blend of classes, cultural experiences and business immersion periods on three continents, with industry seminars delivered by world-class speakers and a realworld consultancy project. * Dipl. 19 A holding company dedicated to excellence in hospitality EHL Group The EHL SA holding company, set up at the beginning of 2015, ensures the management of separate entities, each of which focuses on a specific business or activity. This structure enables EHL to create and develop a rationalized, coherent portfolio of specialized activities, both in Switzerland and abroad. EHL Hospitality Services designs, produces and commercializes products and services relating to the hotel industry, aimed at students activities within their curriculum, living on campus. International activities: Lausanne Hospitality Consulting (LHC) through management consulting and education, LHC contributes to the international development of EHL and showcases its expertise and knowledge all over the world. Campus: EHL Real Estate encompasses activities relating to the acquisition, renovation and management of real estate and will, for example, be involved in the development of the new EHL campus.

22 André Witschi Chairman, Board of Governors André Witschi became President of the Board of Governors of the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne on 5 March 2012, after having been a member for over ten years. André Witschi is also Member of the Supervisory Board of Lindner Hotels AG, Member of the Board of Sausolitos Restaurants, Member of the Board of Directors of Build S.A and Member of the Board of DEHOGA / IHA (German association of hoteliers and restaurateurs). Benefiting from a solid experience in the european hotel industry for over 40 years, this son of a hotelier and graduate of the Juventus School of Commerce and the Zurich Hotel School, holds two MBAs from the GSBA in Zurich and the New York State University. 21
