6 END-OF-COURSE EXAMS (EOC) Class of 2018 and Beyond Graduation Requirements Include End-Of-Course Exams & ONE of the following THREE:

7 1. Earn a cumulative 18 points on seven end-ofcourse exams. 2. Earn a remediation-free score on a nationally recognized college admission exam such as ACT or SAT. 3. Earn a State Board of Education-approved, industry-recognized credential or a stateissued license for practice in a career & achieve a score that demonstrates workforce readiness & employability on a job skills assessment.

10 HONORS DIPLOMA CRITERIA (Must Meet Seven of the Eight) another higher level course or a four-year sequence of courses that contain 1. Four units of English 2. Four units of Mathematics at least Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry and equivalent content 3. Four units of Science including Physics and Chemistry 4. Four units of Social Studies 5. Three units of one World (Foreign) Language or two units each of two World (Foreign) Languages 6. One unit Fine Arts 7. Maintain a cumulative GPA of a 3.5 on an un-weighted grading scale 8. Obtain a composite score of 27 on the ACT or an equivalent composite score on the 1210 SAT

12 CREDIT FLEXIBILITY Ohio law (SB 311) and Brunswick Board of Education Policy, permits students to meet high school credit requirements in four ways. 1. Traditional Coursework 2. Test Out 3. Educational Option 4. Combination of 1-3 Guidelines/Applications are available on the Brunswick High School Website under the Guidance Department

14 COURSE LEVELS " Students capable of honors or advanced placement courses should sign up for these when completing the course selection sheet. Students can be moved to a lower level course within the first grading period providing one is available and they are academically misplaced. Changing placement from regular level to honors or AP after the beginning of the school year is not an option as the student has missed too much instruction and/or the appropriate summer work for the course.

19 PHYSICAL EDUCATION EXEMPTION There is a policy that permits students to be exempt from PE if they participate in a sport, cheerleading, dance, or marching band.

20 PHYSICAL EDUCATION EXEMPTION Students cannot do a combination of PE exemption and physical education course.

21 PUPIL LOAD Minimum pupil load is classes per semester not including summer school

22 " Freshmen recommendation Enroll in six classes for the year and have one period for a study hall/health lab

23 ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY ATHLETIC/CO-CURRICULAR/EXTRA-CURRICULAR Students must have received passing grades in a minimum of five one-credit courses or the equivalent. Ninth grade students must maintain a GPA of a 1.8 Tenth-twelfth grades must maintain a GPA of a 2.0 All requirements must be made in the grading period immediately preceding

24 NATIONAL COLLEGE College-bound student athletes must register with the NCAA if hoping to play sports at a Division I or Division II school Registering can be done on-line. ATHLETIC Transcripts are required to complete application ASSOCIATION

25 COLLEGE CREDIT PLUS - CCP Any student interested in the CCP Program must circle on their Course Selection Sheet. Turn in Acknowledgement Form by April 1 st Submit application, transcripts request form, take placement test Some CCP courses will be offered in our building next year.

26 SCHEDULE CHANGE POLICY Schedule changes may be considered for the following reasons: Change necessitated by physical health of a student Completion of course in Summer School Changes necessitated by failures Mechanical error changes Subject-level changes if misplaced Classroom balancing

27 DROPPING A SUBJECT A student may withdraw from an elective course within the first two weeks without penalty, providing the student s course load does not fall below five credits for that year. If a course is dropped after the first two weeks, a grade of a F will be recorded.

28 SUMMER SCHOOL DATES FIRST SESSION June 5 th June 21 st SECOND SESSION June 22 nd July 12 th (no class on July 4 th & 5 th ) Summer school meets from 7:45 a.m. 12:25 p.m.
