2 Admission and Course Duration Eligibility for Admission to MBBS Degree 1. Qualifying Examination A candidate seeking admission to first MBBS course: 1. Shall have passed two years Pre University examination conducted by Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka state, with English as one of the subject, and physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually also. 2. Shall have passed any other examination conducted by Boards/Councils/Intermediate Education established by State Governments/Central Government and recognized as equivalent to two year Pre- University examination by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences/Association of Indian University (AIU), with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and the candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually. 3. Shall have passed intermediate examination in Science of an Indian University/Board/Council of other recognized examining bodies with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, which shall include a practical test in these subjects and also English as compulsory subject. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually. 4. Shall have passed first year if the three year degree course of a recognized University with physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in these subjects provided the examination in an University Examination provided that the candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually in the pre university or other examinations mentioned in the clauses above. 5. Shall have passed B.Sc Examination of an Indian University, provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc Examination with not less than two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology) provided the candidate has passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually in the qualifying examinations mentioned in clauses (a), (b) and (c). Note: Candidates who have Passed Physical Sciences instead of Physics and Chemistry as two separate subjects are not eligible for admission to MBBS course as per Medical Council of India Regulation vide letter MCI- 37(2)/2001/Med.922 dated and RGUHS letter UA/ELY-115/ dated z 1

3 The selection of students to medical colleges shall be based on merit provided that: a) In case of admission on the basis of qualifying examination, a candidate for admission to MBBS course must have passed individually in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the qualifying examination, in respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes of Other Backward Classes, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 50& as above. b) In case of admission on the basis of competitive entrance examination, a candidate must have passed individually in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the qualifying examination and in addition must have come in the merit list prepared as a result of such competitive entrance examination by securing not less than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in the competitive examination. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination be 40% instead of 50% as state above. Age: The candidates should have completed 17 years on or before 31 st day of December of the year of admission. 5 Eligibility for Admission MD/MS Degree and Diploma Courses: A candidate who has passed MBBS examination after pursuing a study in a medical college recognized by the Medical Council of India, from a recognized Medical College affiliated to any other University recognized as equivalent thereto, and has completed one year compulsory rotating internship in a teaching Institution or other Institution recognized by the Medical Council of India, and has obtained permanent registration of any State Medical Council shall be eligible for admission. Obtaining Eligibility Certificate by the University before making admission. Eligibility certificate issued by the University is a pre requisite for approval of admission to any Post-Graduate Degree/Diploma courses unless the candidate has passed the qualifying examination in the Karnataka Pre University Board (for UG) and this University (for PG Degree/ Diploma). The candidate has to make an application in the prescribed format downloadable from the University website or apply online to the university with the following documents along with the prescribed fee: A. MBBS degree certificate issued by the University. B. Marks cards of all the university examination passed MBBS course C. Attempt certificate issued by the Principal.( For PG) D. Certificate regarding the recognition of the medical college by the medical council of India. E. Completion of internship certificate. F. Permanent Registration by any state Medical Council and G. Proof of SC/ST or Category I, issued by Karnataka Revenue authorities as the case may be. Candidate should obtain the Eligibility Certificate before the last date for admission as notified by the university. D.M and M.Ch Courses D.M: Candidate seeking admission for D.M courses in any subject must possess recognized degree of MD (or its equivalent recognized degree) in the subject specified in the regulation of the Medical Council of India from time to time. M.Ch: Candidate seeking admission for M.Ch course in any subject must possess recognized degree of MS (or its equivalent recognized degree) in the subject specified in the regulation of the Medical Council of India from time to time. 6 Eligibility for Admission BDS Degree 1. Qualifying Examination A candidate seeking admission to first BDS course: a) Shall have passed the two years Pre-University Examination of Pre-University Board of Karnataka with English and Physics Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually* also b) Shall have passed any other examination conducted by Boards/Councils/Intermediate Education established by State Governments/ Central Government and recognized as equivalent to two year Pre University examination by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences/Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and the candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually c) Shall have passed Intermediate examination in Science of an Indian University/Board/Council or other recognized examining bodies with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, which shall include a practical test in these subjects and also English as compulsory subject. The pre-professional/ pre- medical examination shall include a practical test in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and also English as compulsory subject. e) Shall have passed first year of the three year degree course of a recognized University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in these subjects provided the Examination is an 'University Examination' provided that the candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually in the pre university or other examinations mentioned in the clauses above. f) Shall have passed B.Sc. Examination of an Indian University, provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc. examination with not less than two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology) provided the candidate has passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually in the qualifying examinations mentioned in clauses (a), (b) and. 2. Age Requirement: The candidate shall have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete this age on 31st December of the year in which he/she seeks admission. 5

7 INDIAN FIGN NRI/OCI/ PIO SARRC 2000/- 3000/ / / / / / /- Post Graduate Dental Degree and Diploma Courses A candidate for admission to the MDS course (Master of Dental Surgery) must have 1. recognized degree if BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) awarded by an Indian University in respect of recognized Dental College under Section 10(2) of the Dentists Act, 1948 or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Dental Council of India and should have obtained permanent registration with the Sate Dental Council. 2. Candidates not possessing a recognized Dental Qualification for the above purpose should secure the prior approval of his qualifications by the Dental Council of India before he can be admitted to the MDS Courses of any University in India. 3. Candidates who possess PG Diploma recognized by the DCI with the duration of 2 years (proposed) in particular specialty is eligible for admission in MDS in the same specialty and the duration will be of 2 years. The syllabus of two years programmed will be as per the concerned university guidelines. 5. Provided that in the case if foreign national, the Dental Council of India may, on payment of the prescribed fee for registration, grant temporary registration for the duration of the postgraduate training restricted to the dental college / institution to which he is admitted for the time being exclusively for postgraduate studies. Provided that further temporary registration to such foreign national shall be subject to the condition that such person is duly registered as dental practitioner in his own country from which he has obtained his basic dental qualification and that his degree is recognized by the corresponding dental council of concerned authority. 6

8 INDIAN FEIGN NRI/OCI/ PIO SARRC 2000/- 3000/ / / / / / /- Eligibility for Admission BAMS Degree a).qualifying Examination A candidate seeking admission to first BAMS course: i) Shall have passed two years Pre University examination conducted by Department of Pre- University Education, Karnataka State, with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually also. Preference will be given to candidates knowing Sanskrit. ** ii) Shall have passed any other examination conducted by Boards/Councils/Intermediate Education established by State Governments/ Central Government and recognized as equivalent to two year Pre University examination by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences/Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and the candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually. iii) The candidates who have passed the B.Sc Part- I degree examination of any University or equivalent examination conducted by statutory Universities or Boards with Science subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany & Zoology and secured not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate are eligible for admission to I BAMS Course, provided the candidate has passed the PUC examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as one of the languages. b).qualifying Marks: The selection of students to medical colleges shall be based on merit provided that: In case of admission on the basis of qualifying examination, a candidate for admission to BAMS course must have passed individually in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the qualifying examination (2nd PUC). In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination is 40% instead of 50% as stated above. c).age Requirement: The candidate should have completed 17 years on or before 31st day of December of the year of admission. Amendment to revised Ordinance Governing BAMS Course Notification, Dated 19/09/2006 Admission Qualification:- 1. Student must have passed two years P UC examination or nay other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with English as one of the languages and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects with not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate of the relevant Science subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) of the Second year P UC examination only are eligible for admission to BAMS Course. (the words Preference will be given to candidates knowing Sanskrit is deleted) 2. The candidate who have passed the B Sc part-1 DEGREE EXAMINATION OF ANY University or equivalent examination conducted by statutory University or Boards with Science subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany & Zoology and secured not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate are eligible for admission to 1 BAMS Course, provided the candidate has passed the PUC examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as one of the languages. 3. Candidates who have passed B Sc examination of any University in India or recognized as equivalent thereto with any three (3) Science subjects with not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate are eligible for admission to BAMS Course. Provided they have passed in the deficient Science subject(s) namely- Physics, Chemistry, or Biology (Botany & Zoology), and English as one of the languages at the Pre University or B Sc part- 1 level. 4. However in the case of students belong to SC/ST and Category -1, the minimum requirement in percentage of marks for admission to BAMS Course is relaxed by 10% marks. Shaalaakya Tantra Eligibility for Admission A candidate who has passed final year BAMS examination after perusing prescribed course of study in an Ayurveda Medical College affiliated to this University and recognized by the Central Council of Indian Medicine, or from a recognized Ayurveda Medical College affiliated to any other University, recognized as equivalent thereto by RGUHS, and has completed one year compulsory internship in the teaching institution or any other institution recognized by CCIM for internship, and has obtained permanent registration of a State Ayurveda Practitioners Registration Board/Ayurveda council, shall be eligible for admission. Further, a sponsored/deputed candidate (Ayurveda Teachers of Physicians) will be required to possess qualification essential for admission. Obtaining Eligibility Certificate by the University before making admission. No candidate shall be admitted for any Post-Graduate Degree courses [MD (Ay)/MS (Ay)] unless the candidate has obtained and produced the eligibility certificate issued by the university. The candidate has to make an application to the university with the following self attested photocopies of documents along with the prescribed fee: a. BAMS pass/ degree certificate issued by the University. b. Marks cards of all the university examinations passed (I to Final Year of BAMS course). c. Attempt certificate issued by the Principal d. Certificate regarding the recognition of the college by the CCIM. e. Completion of internship certificate from the recognized institution. 9

11 f. Registration by state Ayurveda Practitioners Registration Board/Ayurveda Council g. Proof of SC/ST or Category I issued by competent authorities as the case may be. Candidate should obtain the Eligibility Certificate before the last date for admission as notified by the university. A candidate who has been admitted to postgraduate course should register his/her name in the University within a month of admission after paying the registration fee. A Candidate must have passed the two year Pre-University examination conducted by Department of Pre- University Education, Karnataka State or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with English as one of the languages and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects with not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate of the relevant Science subjects i.e., Physics, Chemistry and Biology provided the candidate has passed in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects individually to be eligible for admission to I BHMS Course. 2. A Candidate who has passed the B.Sc Part-I Degree examination of any University in India or recognized as equivalent thereto with the following science subjects namely Chemistry, Botany & Zoology and secured not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate in above, mentioned subjects is eligible for admission to I BHMS course, provided the candidate has passed the Pre-University or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages. Note the candidate should have passed the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology individually in the Pre-University or its equivalent examination. 3. A Candidate who has passed the B.Sc Part-I Degree examination of any University in India or recognized as equivalent thereto with the following science subjects namely Chemistry, Botany & Zoology and secured not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate in B.Sc Final examination in above mentioned subjects is eligible for admission to I BHMS course provided the candidate has passed Pre-University or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages at the Pre-University of B.Sc Part-I level. Note the candidate should have passed the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually in the pre-university of its equivalent examination. Note: In case of students belonging to SC/ST and Category-I, the minimum required in percentage of marks shall not be less than 40% for admission to I BHMS Course. 10

A candidate should have attained the age of 17 years on or before 31 st December of the year of his/her admits INDIAN NRI/OCI/PIO SARRC FEIGN 2000/- 3000/ / / / / / /- Amendment of Revised Ordinance Governing Homoeopathy Degree BHMS Course Regulation 2005, Notification Dated 29/12/2011, Amended I) A Candidate must have passed the two years Pre- University examination conducted by Department of Pre University Education, Karnataka state any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto which English as one of the languages and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as Optional subjects II) III) A Candidate who has passed the B.Sc part -1 degree examination of any University in India or recognized as equivalent there with the following science subject namely Chemistry Botany & Zoology and secured not less than 40% of marks in the aggregate in above mentioned subjects is eligible for admission to I BHMS course. Provided the candidate has passed the Pre University or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subject and English as one of the languages. A Candidate who has passed B.Sc Degree examination of any University in India or recognized as equivalent thereto with the following science subject namely Chemistry Botany & Zoology and secured not less than 40% of marks in the aggregate in B Sc final examination in above mentioned subjects is eligible for admission to 1 BHMS course provided the candidate has passed Pre- University or equivalent examination with Physics., Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages at the Pre- University or B.Sc Part-I level. Note : The Candidate should have passed the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology individually in the Pre- University or its equivalent examination. In case of students belonging to SC/St and category-1, the minimum requirement in percentage of marks shall not be less than 35% for admission to 1 BHMS Course. IV) A candidate should have attained the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of his/her admission. 11

13 Post Graduate Degree in Homeopathy Courses 1. Eligibility Criteria/Admission Requirements: No Candidate shall be admitted to MD Homeopathy course unless he/she possesses the degree of- a).bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery or Equivalent qualification in Homoeopathy included in the Second Scheduled to the Homoeopathy Central Council Act, 1973, after undergoing a course of study of not less than five years and six months duration including one year compulsory internship; b).bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (Graded Degree) or equivalent qualification in Homoeopathy included in the Second Schedule to the Homoeopathy Central Council Act, 1973,, after undergoing a course of study of not less than two years duration. INDIAN FEIGN NRI SARRC 2000/- 3000/ / / / / / /- Eligibility for Admission BUMS Degree 1. Eligibility of Admission. Candidate seeking admission to Kamil e-tibb-o-jarahat (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery) Degree Course: 1. Shall have passed two years Pre University examination conducted by Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka State, with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually and must have obtained a minimum of not less than 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in qualifying examination. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying be 40% instead of 50% as above. 2. Shall have passed any other examination conduct by Boards / Council / Intermediate Education established be State Governments/Central Government and recognized as equivalent to two year Pre- University examination by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences/Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and the candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually and must have obtained a minimum of not less than 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the qualifying examination. In respect if candidates belonging to Scheduled 12

14 Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 50% as above. 2. Minimum age Candidates should attain the age of seventeen years as on 1 st December of the year of admission to BUMS course. 3. Medium of Instruction a. Medium of instruction shall be Urdu, substantiated with English wherever necessary. INDIAN FEIGN NRI SARRC 2000/- 3000/ / / / / / /- Eligibility for Admission Bachelor Degree in the Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences (BNYS) Degree UNIVERSITY NOTIFICATION NO ACA/20-MISC/96-97 DATED 10/03/ Should have passed the two year Pre-University examination or equivalent of other University or other country as recognized by this University with science subject viz-physics, Chemistry and Biology and English. a).should have obtained at lease forty five percent of the total marks in science subjects of the qualifying examination.. b).in case of candidates belonging to a scheduled case or a scheduled tribe the minimum marks for eligibility is forty percent of the total marks in science subjects of the qualifying examination. c).candidates should attain the age of 17 years as on 31 st December of the year of admission. General 1. Candidates who have passed AISCCE conducted by CBSE, New Delhi, but failed in any one of the cognate subjects of the qualifying examination are not eligible for admission to higher class where those subjects are prescribed as qualifying subjects for admission to a course. 2. In some cases,it is noticed that All India Senior School Certificate Examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, the candidates who have offered Physics, Chemistry and Biology and Mathematics subjects at the said examination and failed in any one of the above subjects is declared as PASS by the Board as per their regulations. Such candidates are not eligible for admission to degree in Medical and other Health Sciences courses in RGUHS unless he/she has passed 13

15 Physics, Chemistry and Biology and /or Physics, Chemistry and Maths. 3. The candidates belonging to Backward Tribe or Category of outside Karnataka State (Other than SC/ST) are not eligible to claim the relaxation in the percentage minimum in their qualifying examination. 4. Admissions to various courses should be made as per the intake sanctioned by the Government for the year Colleges shall not make excess admissions. Admissions exceeding the intake fixed shall be invalid (Vide Section 45(10) (b) of RGUHS Act 1994). 5. A candidate who has passed the qualifying examination conducted subsequent to the Annual Examination of 1997 are not eligible for admission to any Course during the Academic Year , for example-karnataka Pre-University student successful at the supplementary exam conducted after 1997 annual examination are not eligible for admissions to session. 6. Candidates who have passed D.Pharm course from institutions approved by Pharmacy Council of India U/S 12 of Pharmacy Act, Are only eligible to be admitted to first year Pharm.D course. Age The candidate should have completed 17 years of age on or before 31 st day of December of the year of admission to join the course. Duration of the course Pharm.D. The duration of the course shall be six academic years (five years of study and one year of internship or residency)full time with each academic year spread over a period of not less than two hundred working days. Criteria for pass: A candidate has to fulfill the following criteria: For declaration of pass in any subjects in the university examinations, a candidate shall pass both in theory and practical/clinical examinations, a candidate shall pass both in theory and practical/clinical examinations components separately as stipulated below: The theory component consists of marks obtained in university written papers (s) and internal assessment (theory). For a pass in theory, a candidate shall secure not less than 40% marks in university conducted written examinations and 45% marks scored in the university conducted written examinations and internal assessment (theory) added together. For a pass in practical/ clinical examinations candidates shall secure not less than 40% marks in university conducted practical/clinical examinations and 45% marks in aggregate i.e. marks scored in the university conducted practical/ clinical examination and internal assessment (practical) added together.
