1 Bachelor of Business (Insurance) includes: Bachelor of Business (Insurance) The course includes the following awards: Bachelor of Business (Insurance) BBus(Insurance) Joint Studies A joint study is a prescribed set of subjects taken from a discipline other than Accounting or Business. Students are able to use the title of the joint study in conjunction with Bachelor of Accounting (e.g. Bachelor of Accounting/Finance, Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management/Industrial Relations). Admission criteria CSU Admission Policy Applicants for the Bachelor of Business (Insurance) must meet the following Admission Requirements: A completed Diploma level insurance qualification with the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF). Admission to this specialisation is only open to ANZIIF members who have completed an ANZIIF Diploma insurance qualification. Students must apply for this course through ANZIIF. English Language Proficiency Minimum CSU English Language Proficiency Requirements apply. Credit CSU Credit Policy The Faculty has a large number of standard credit packages for TAFE and other institutions. Graduation requirements To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 192 points. 3 INS204 Insurance Law and Regulation II plus two (2) from the following six (6) subjects, each of which relates to a particular class of insurance: INS301 Liability Underwriting Management INS302 Personal Lines Underwriting Management INS303 Commercial Lines Underwriting Management A INS304 Commercial Lines Underwriting Management B INS305 Marine Underwriting Management INS306 Statutory Classes Underwriting Management plus two (2) from the following six (6) subjects, each of which relates to a particular class of insurance: INS311 Liability Claims Management INS312 Personal Lines Claims Management INS313 Commercial Lines Claims Management A INS314 Commercial Lines Claims Management B INS315 Marine Claims Management INS316 Statutory Classes Claims Management Restricted Electives Students must complete one (1) Restricted Electives from the following Level 3 capstone units: ACC311 Strategic & Sustainable Accounting FIN350 Strategic Financial Management HRM330 Strategic Human Resource Management MGT330 Business Strategy MKT340 Strategic Marketing Management. Restricted electives may be counted towards a joint study. Note: Pre-requisites and/or assumed knowledge apply for all subjects listed above. Electives Students must choose six (6) electives either by: completing a Joint Study in another discipline area, which will be included on the testamur, and adding the number of electives needed to bring the total number of subjects to 24; or by selecting six (6) electives. An elective is any undergraduate subject offered by Charles Sturt University provided prerequisites and enrolment restrictions have been met. Note that at least 3 electives must be Business or Business related subjects. 3

4 Students must ensure that there are no more than twelve (12) level one subjects in their degree. Students must also ensure that they complete a minimum of five (5) level three subjects in their degree. The level of a subject is designated by the first digit in the subject code, e.g. MGT100 is a level one subject. JOINT STUDIES A joint study is a prescribed set of subjects taken from a discipline other than the chosen specialisation. Students are then able to use the title of the joint study in conjunction with the specialisation (e.g. Bachelor of Business (Insurance/Finance). For a Joint Study either from within the Faculty of Business, Justice & Behavioural Sciences, or consisting of subjects from another Faculty, students must take an established sequence or set of five subjects. Established sequences are determined by Faculty Board. Students must ensure that they take the necessary prerequisites. If a Joint Study is chosen from those offered within the Faculty of Business, Justice & Behavioural Sciences, it must be in an area other than that of the specialisation chosen. No more than two subjects can be counted towards a Joint Study if they have already been undertaken as part of the core or restricted elective. A student cannot claim more than one Joint Study. Students enrolled through the CSU Study Centres may only choose the Accounting, Management or Marketing joint studies.
