4 HiQ Georgia had: 98.8 percent highly qualified teachers (teachers who serve as the teacher of record in core academic subjects); 99.6 percent highly qualified paraprofessionals. The number of Local Education Agencies (LEAs); 99.1 percent HiQ (teachers and paraprofessionals combined); and 97 LEAs met all highly qualified requirements for teachers and paraprofessionals.

6 Monitoring Visits Title II-A Education Specialists participated in 80 scheduled cross-functional monitoring visits. To help ensure effective internal controls, each of these were conducted outside the specialists regional service area. Specialists also conducted 38 Title II, Part A only monitoring visits during Spring 2013.

To help ensure effective internal controls, specialists will continue to participate in those outside the specialists regional service area. Specialists will also conduct Title II, Part A only monitoring visits during Spring 2014 to those districts that have not been monitored for three years.

17 Budget Reminders Job descriptions for any to be funded or partially funded with Title II-A funds must be approved by the Education Specialist prior to the district s submission of the budget Budget descriptors should be in sufficient detail to determine the item aligns to prioritized needs and is allowable under Title II, Part A. Ensure that expenditures of Title II, Part A funds for activities/strategies that are not specifically identified in one or more budget descriptors are appropriate to address one or more of the LEA s prioritized needs and are allocable to the Title II, Part A program. Maintain documentation to verify supplies and materials purchased with Title II, Part A funds are necessary for specific professional learning If applicable, LEA must submit Class Size Reduction Worksheet as an attachment to the Consolidated Application. If applicable, LEA must submit Private School Equitable Expenditures Worksheet as an attachment to the Consolidated Application.

19 Private Schools Under the Improving Teacher Quality State Grants program, private school teachers, principals, and other educational personnel are eligible to participate to the extent that the LEA uses funds to provide for professional development for teachers and others. Systems are required to provide private school teachers, and other educational personnel with educational services on an equitable basis and in a timely manner.

23 When will information on the new program be available? Informational Website and Call Center Support Opened July 1, Calls about any aspect of GACE, not related to certification: (7 a.m. 6 p.m) s from all test takers - gaceinquiries@ets.org Registration Opens August 19, 2013 Testing Begins October
24 How will the new program be developed? The GACE is still a customized program developed by Georgia Educators and aligned with K-12 state curriculum standards (Common Core Georgia Performance Standards) and educator preparation program standards Three different committees developed each GACE: Content Development Committee Meetings Bias Review Committee Meetings Standard Setting Panel Meetings There is also a diverse GaPSC Assessment Advisory Panel to help guide the work. 24
25 Will the test design change? The current two tests per assessment area format will be maintained All tests will be offered via computer only, except for the performance portion of American Sign Language Innovative item types, such as video stimuli, requiring higher levels of thinking will be incorporated into the tests Most tests will contain selected response items only Immediate, unofficial results will be available on most assessments 25

27 How will the test availability differ? Maximum Potential Testing Sessions (all tests) ES = 3,555 Maximum Potential Testing Sessions (all tests) ETS = 18,668 ETS is seeking Certified Test Administration Sites (CTAS). Information is available at 27
28 What will the GACE cost? Current Program: No price increase in past 7 years (except one $5 registration fee increase) Current CBT fee is $30 with ES New Program: No price increase in next 7 years; price goes down $5.00 over time New CBT is $28 with ETS 28
29 Will study materials be available? Candidates will have access to numerous forms of test preparation materials, including Study Companions Interactive Practice Tests Full-length Practice Tests Test Familiarization Videos Webinars 29
30 Why is registering at MyPSC important for the GACE? All examinees must have a MyPSC account in order to register for a GACE. The examinee s name in MyPSC must match exactly as it appears on the photo ID that will be used when seeking admission to the test center to take a GACE assessment. If not, the examinee will not be admitted. 30
31 What are the remaining test dates with the current program with ES? The GACE Paraprofessional assessment will be offered through September 30, The Educational Leadership assessment and the Professional Pedagogy assessment will remain with ES until Spring
32 What happens if an examinee did not pass the full assessment by the August 17 th final testing date with ES? Because scores from tests offered by different test suppliers are not comparable, if examinees did not pass all parts of an assessment with ES, the examinee must start over with ETS. Examinees will retain credit for any GACE assessment you have already passed (all parts of the assessment must be passed to retain credit). 32
