3 School background School vision statement Collector Public School is a school community committed to providing a broad range of rich learning experiences in a nurturing environment enhanced by quality teaching practices. School context Collector Public School is located mid way between Goulburn and Canberra just off the Federal Highway. The school is a proud member of the Tablelands Rural Education Community (TREC). It is a school with a strong sense of belonging, tradition, history, respect, responsibility and integrity. The school provides a broadbased curriculum to ensure that all students have the opportunity to excell in areas of individual interest and talent. There is a strong culture of excellence in sporting pursuits, music and performing arts. Self-assessment and school achievement Self-assessment using the School Excellence Framework This section of the Annual Report outlines the findings from self assessment using the School Excellence Framework, school achievements and the next steps to be pursued. This year, our school undertook self assessment using the School Excellence Framework. The framework supports public schools throughout NSW in the pursuit of excellence by providing a clear description of high quality practice across the three domains of Learning, Teaching and Leading. Collector Public School is performing mainly in the 'Delivering, Sustaining and Growing' elements of the School Excellence Framework, and is on track with the School Plan. Our self assessment process will assist the school to refine our school plan, leading to further improvements in the delivery of education to our students. For more information about the School Excellence Framework: and learning/school excellence and accountability/sef evidence guide Page 3 of 10 Collector Public School 1590 (2017)

School performance NAPLAN In the National Assessment Program, the results across the Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 literacy and numeracy assessments are reported on a scale from Band 1 to Band 10. The achievement scale represents increasing levels of skills and understandings demonstrated in these assessments. It is not permissible to include Collector Public School s NAPLAN results in this report as, given the small cohort, it would allow for the possible identification of individual students results. Parent/caregiver, student, teacher satisfaction After conducting a parent forum, parents identified the following areas in which the school is performing well. The approachability of school staff, the school reading programs, extra learning support, a change in mathematics and differentiating for the students, students happiness at school, extra curricula activities with the small school network (TREC), parental involvement, the promotion of music and a broad range of activities including music, art and sport. 10 Policy requirements Aboriginal education This year the Primary students have learnt about past and present Aboriginal culture and stories using the BTN program. All students also participated in an Aboriginal Day at Breadalbane with the TREC network, partaking in activities conducted by the Elders, learning new dances, music and listening to stories. Collector Public School visited the National Museum of Australia as part of the TREC network, participating in a program investigating Early Australians and their rich history with the land. The school integrates Aboriginal Education in all integrated units of work. Multicultural and anti-racism education The majority of students from Collector Public School are of Anglo Saxon descent. It is with this in mind that the need to look at cultures beyond their own is valued with such importance. HSIE provides the opportunity to study other cultures and encourage attitudes of tolerance and respect for those different to themselves. Mrs Mor, a community member and past teacher, shared with the 3 6 students her experiences through her worldly travels as part of our international studies. Over a period of weeks the students learnt about the difference in cultures, architecture and engineering marvels. They discussed currency, language and social expectations. Collector Public School were invited and participated in an Indonesian day at Windellama, who were hosting 2 Indonesian teachers. The students learnt about traditional games, customs, food and dance throughout the day. The students also learnt some Indonesian words. The 3 6 students all produced a research poster on the international country of study, Nepal, that they presented as part of our relationship with the Country Women's Association.
