3 School Leadership In August of 2017, the Board of Trustees of BC High announced the appointment of Grace Cotter Regan, the first female President in the school s 154-year history. President Regan began her tenure in January of 2018 and was missioned as Director of Work for BC High in May at a mass led by the Very Reverend John Cecero, SJ, with Reverend Jack Hanwell, SJ, 74, and Reverend Brian Conley, SJ concelebrating. President Regan succeeded William Kemeza, who retired after a distinguished 30-year career at BC High. Prior to joining BC High, President Regan served as Head of School of St. Mary s in Lynn, Massachusetts. During her five year tenure, President Regan drove transformative initiatives including the largest capital campaign in the school s history. Before St. Mary s, she held an executive position with the New England Province of Jesuits. President Regan brings significant leadership experience from previous roles at Boston College, College of the Holy Cross and the Boston Public Library Association. After graduating from Boston College, President Regan went on to earn a Master s of Arts in pastoral ministry and spirituality from Boston College School of Ministry and Theology, and a Master s in education degree from the University of Vermont. Grace then volunteered for the Jesuit International Volunteer Corps in Belize, where she continues to minister Ignatian Spirituality alongside Belizean/American youth.
4 Senior Director of Alumni Engagement The Opportunity Boston College High School seeks a Senior Director of Alumni Engagement who will oversee the design and implementation of all alumni engagement programs and operations for the 15,000+ member BC High Alumni Network. Reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement will serve as a member of BC High s advancement team and will develop opportunities to enhance the experiences and mutual interests of alumni and the school. The Senior Director will collaborate internally to set priorities and develop strategies that will mobilize volunteers and staff to maximize resources of a committed, talented and diverse alumni body. S/he will create integrated engagement programs that result in a vibrant, growing pipeline of involved alumni who support school events, the mission of BC High and its philanthropic goals. The Senior Director of Alumni Engagement will lead the development and execution of a strategic platform that consists of national and global representatives of an Alumni Advisory Council for the BC High Alumni Network. The Senior Director will possess leadership skills and experience to meet the challenges of new programming and the ability to empower staff and graduates for the betterment of the School. Events and activities include, but are not limited to: reunions, regional alumni events, class agent programs, community service days, spiritual retreats, career connections and networking, and affinity programming. Preferred qualifications and characteristics of the ideal candidate: Strong leadership experience, exceptional judgement and discretion. Superb interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with many constituencies both on and off campus. Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage and sustain productive relationships with alumni volunteers, board members, colleagues and others who give generously of their time. Experience with team building, training and coaching key stakeholders toward a common goal. Exceptional written and verbal presentation skills. Authentic commitment to advance the mission of an institution that exudes Catholic values. Familiarity with Boston College High School, Boston s philanthropic landscape and Jesuit education are strongly preferred. Sense of humor and ability to work with ambiguity. The position requires a bachelor s degree (master s degree preferred) and a minimum of years of experience in alumni relations, community building or other transferable profession.
5 Candidate Profile Senior Director of Alumni Engagement candidates will be results-driven, energetic and creative leaders for a nationally recognized school and alumni body of more than 15,000 graduates. Qualified candidates will have the ability to broadly engage with colleagues, graduates, former students and friends who wish to be part of the BC High network. S/he will demonstrate a proven ability to implement purposeful strategies for growth by building and stewarding robust, meaningful partnerships with constituents of BC High including graduates, families, friends and international advocates of Jesuit education. Candidates will have a strong familiarity with BC High, its mission and global community of alumni. S/he will have the ability to clearly articulate BC High s mission, traditions, excellence, priorities and goals with enthusiasm and energy that will compel others to action. Key Responsibilities Serve as a senior ambassador to BC High s loyal and engaged alumni community. Provide leadership and management of staff and volunteers while implementing strategic initiatives to engage alumni in the life of the School. Lead volunteer members of the Alumni Advisory Council, Class Agent programs and members of the BC High Alumni Network who serve as partners in advancing the School s mission. Design and implement affinity programs that broadly represent the vast interests of BC High alumni, including but not limited to, networking events, spiritual retreats, reunion gatherings, community service and career connections. Set clearly defined and measurable objectives for alumni engagement and ensure full collaboration to meet the ever-increasing goal of The Fund for BC High. Manage a select portfolio of alumni donors. Assess the effectiveness of existing programs for alumni outreach and determine what improvements should be made. Support the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Office of the President on school related projects as deemed appropriate. Play an active role in the life of the School.

7 Educational Program Highlights Arrupe Curriculum The curriculum of the Arrupe Division, comprised of Grades 7 and 8, challenges the boys to develop the capacity to understand complex and demanding concepts. We have chosen content and methods that match the strengths and interests of boys. The teachers emphasize teaching methods and classroom situations that utilize the enthusiasm and creativity that boys bring to school. The boys learn by doing by conducting experiments, working in groups, debating, role-playing, writing their own stories, and giving voice to their ideas. The boys learn to write and to read critically. They practice the skills necessary for working in groups, for discussing ideas, and for collaborating with others. We strive to make that work meaningful, to spark the boys interest in gaining knowledge and understanding by focusing the courses around essential questions; and to encourage them to make connections between what they learn in school and what happens in their world outside of BC High. High School Curriculum To meet the educational challenges of today, BC High draws on 150 years of experience combined with over 450 years of Jesuit heritage. Our rigorous academic program is based on the classical roots shared by the world s great leaders and thinkers. As an urban school that has traditionally provided educational opportunity to recent immigrant groups, BC High remains true to its original mission by seeking a diverse and integrated student body. Our programs seek to prepare all students for college and for life. As students develop intellectual competence, they are encouraged to explore academic interests and use their knowledge of diverse subjects to help prepare them for the role they will play in the world.
