1 You are your child s first and best teacher! Here are ways to help your child practice skills while having fun! Write these words: brush, city, chicken, half, fence, fox, peach, wife. Have your child write the plural form of each word by adding -s, -es, changing the y to i and adding -es, or changing the f or fe to -ves. Your child is learning about cause and effect. Read a story with your child. Choose several events in the story and ask your child what happened and why. Have your child write and read each of these words: bought, people, pleasant, probably, scared, shall, sign. Have your child write these spelling words on index cards: baby, lunch, note, story, switch, tune. On the opposite side of each card, have your child write the plural form of the word (babies, lunches, notes, stories, switches, tunes). This week your child learned about cause and effect. Discuss safety around the house and ask your child to write a paragraph about what could happen if people aren t careful and don t take precautions. 2 Materials paper, markers or crayons, scissors, bag, tape, 4 small bowls, buttons Game Directions 1. Copy or cut out the words shown here. Put the words in a bag. Copy or cut out the plural endings. Tape each ending to a bowl. Place the bowls on the floor. 2. Players sit and take turns drawing a word from the bag and tossing a button into the bowl labeled with the correct plural ending for the word, such as -ies for cherry. 3. If the button lands in the right bowl, the player spells the plural word and gets one point. 4. Play continues until all the words in the bag are used.
