1 Correlation to: McGraw-Hill Using Number Worlds and McGraw-Hill to build mathematical proficiency

2 The following correlation shows how to use the Number Worlds program as supplemental intervention for students who need additional support to core instruction. By using the information in this correlation, Number Worlds can be used to provide focused, explicit instruction in essential mathematics concepts and skills that build the foundation for continued learning. Students needing intensive intervention can be placed in the Number Worlds program according to their own unique needs using the Placement Tests. Using the Correlation The left column of the correlation lists each unit of core instruction. The right columns of the correlation list weeks of Number Worlds instruction that provide an alternative way of teaching the unit lesson concept, teach and reinforce prerequisite skills, or provide additional review and reinforcement of lesson concepts. For each week of supporting Number Worlds instruction, the following information is provided: Level: The level from which instruction has been identified (i.e. Levels A-J) Unit: The unit from which instruction has been identified (i.e. Unit 1 = Number Sense). Use the chart below to help determine which unit title each unit number is referencing. Week: The week from which instruction has been identified (i.e. Week 3). Title: The title of the week of instruction that has been identified (i.e. Percents). Unit Numbers and Titles for each Number Worlds Level For BEST RESULTS: Use Number Worlds lessons as additional mathematics instruction for students needing support to core instruction. Number Worlds lessons can be implemented in a variety of settings, including small groups, pull-out programs, and after school programs. Students needing intensive intervention can be placed in the Number Worlds program according to their own unique needs using the Placement Tests. For each unit, several weeks of supporting Number Worlds lessons have been identified. Use the weeks of Number Worlds instruction that best meets your students needs in any order; however, use each full week of Number Worlds lessons completely and in sequence. Use all Number Worlds lesson components as identified in the Number Worlds Teacher s Edition.
