1 University of Pittsburgh Office of Measurement and Evaluation of Teaching Dear Professor Cezar Lupu: Student Opinion of Teaching Questionnaire Results This form contains survey results for ADVANCED CALCULUS (MATH-0)-070. Attached is a report in PDF format containing your Student Opinion of Teaching Survey results from last term. The report is best viewed and/or printed in color. The evaluation results are broken down into three distinct categories. The first part of the report shows a breakdown of student responses to the quantitative questions. For each item, the number of students (n) who responded, the average or mean (av.) and standard deviation (dev.) are displayed next to a chart or histogram that shows the percentage of the class who responded to each option for that question. The percentages are above the number on the rating scale which increases from left to right, i.e. the number equals the least favorable rating and the number or (depending on the scale) equals the most favorable rating. The sum of percentages will equal 0. A red mark is displayed on the chart where the average or mean is located. To calculate how many students responded to each option, multiply the number of students who answered the question by the percentage for that option. For example, if students answered the question and responded to option then 7 students marked option for that item ( x.0 = 7). The standard deviation is a common measure of dispersion around the mean that may be useful in interpreting the results. If your school had previously calculated norms, they will be on OMET s website (omet.pitt.edu). The second part displays individual comments to each question in the open-ended section of the evaluation. All the responses to the first question will be listed together after the first question and then the responses to the next question will be listed together after the next question, and so on. The final part gives you a profile of the student responses to the quantitative section of the evaluation. This is a chart listing all of the means for the scaled items with a dashed red line connecting the means. If the number of respondents for any of the scaled items is fewer than seven, please be cautious in interpreting the quantitative results. Office of Measurement and Evaluation of Teaching (OMET)

Your recitation instructor would like to know if there is something you believe he/she has done especially well in teaching this recitation section. Cezar consistently goes above and beyond what is expected of him as a teaching assistant. He is extremely knowledgable and is able to communicate his thoughts effectively. I find the recitations very useful for the course work as well as preparation for the preliminary exams. In addition to recitations, Cezar also holds review sessions for our tests, which is not required, but very much appreciated. Furthermore, Cezar has taken the time to get to know the students and I truly appreciate it. I would recommend Cezar to anyone as a teaching assistant. Thank you Cezar for your help! You are an amazing instructor I really wish you would have taught the course entirely. The Best TA I've ever had! First, he really care if we understand the material well, if not, he will explain the question very carefully in detail! Second, He knows many useful tricks for doing analysis problems! And he always loves to share those tricks with us! Third, he volunteered to hold a - hours long review session for us before every exam! (Since we have midterms and one final, he really spends lots of time to prepare and do the review with us). His review session covers useful and important theorems and hard homework problems and lots of other interesting analysis problems which are all representative questions and usually with beautiful proofs. And his recitations and review sessions are very interactive! Finally, please let him be the next semester's TA! And thanks so much Cezar! The exam review sessions were a godsend. everything was great and so professional. dedicated man..) Your recitation instructor would also like to know what specific things you believe might be done to improve the teaching of this recitation section. Nothing really. You care a lot about your students and it shows The only thing I could possibly comment on is sometimes our recitations will begin up to 0 minutes later than scheduled and with only having 0 minutes, the lateness cuts the recitations quite short.
