3 Calibrating the Board To calibrate the board, right-click on the ACTIVControl icon in the system tray. Choose Calibrate and touch the arrows around the board with the pen. Using the ActivPen Tap tip of the pen to board equivalent to leftclick. Button on pen is equivalent to a right-click Double tap with pen to activate websites or applications Use as writing tool on the board 3

8 Importing Files: PDF or PowerPoint *Note: C-scope files can be used with ActivInspire. 15 ActivExpressions: Setting Up Classes/Database to be use with Questions created in ActivInspire Edit > Student Database > New database 15

16 Setting up Database 2 Add Classes 1. Click Add Class 2. Enter Class Name 3. Enter Teacher Name 4. Click Submit 5. Repeat steps for each class that will use the devices 16

17 Setting up Database 3 Add Students 1. Click Add Student 2. Enter Last Name Enter First Name Enter Student ID Optional: DOB and Gender 3. Click Submit 4. Names appear in Student box 5. Repeat steps 17

20 ActivExpressions: Self-Paced Questions Insert > Questions To review/edit questions on a Flipchart: Edit > Questions on Current Page 1. Select the type of question (i.e. multiple choice, T/F etc.) 2. Enter the question on left side (it will appear on the right side for editing) 3. Edit question, enter answers, select correct answer 4. Check Assign Correct Answer 5. Enter Test Properties (title, instructions) (other properties can be set like Randomize, level of question difficulty etc.) 20

21 Starting Student Voting Session Open Flipchart that contains the questions 1. Select Voting Browser 2. Select Assign students to devices 6. Device PINs appear next to student s name 3. Choose class from drop-down 4. Select Assign devices by PIN 5. Click Assign Devices 7. Student enters PIN into their device and click Send (Name highlighted green) 8. Click Finish 21

22 Starting/Completing Student Voting Session When devices have been assigned PINs, click the play button on the toolbox to send questions to student devices Click the stop button when questions have been completed 22

23 View Student Responses 1. Select the Voting Browser 2. Expand Results Browser 3. Click Export The file will open in Excel Tabs at the bottom of the Excel sheet allows you to review the results in different formats 23

24 Using Promethean ActivExpression with First Things First... Confirm that Blaze Connector has been installed on your computer Create a local (or benchmark) test or test key in Aware (see following slides for test administration) Make sure batteries are good in units to be used 24

25 Log into Eduphoria Open Aware On Analyze tab Click Test Available Select Test to be given with clickers Select Use Response Pads Test Administration (test must be created first) 25

26 Test Admin cont d Click drop down and select Promethean Click Administer button (bottom left) Click Save save file to a folder you have created for Aware Tests (this is.sopro file you will use later) You can log out of Eduphoria for now 26

27 Test Admin cont d Getting the students on the devices: Important Note: When using an Aware administration, the Promethean board must be unplugged from the USB port of your computer for Blaze to connect. We will update you as this issue is resolved with Promethean and Eduphoria. Unplugging the board does not affect projection from your computer, only the ability to use ActivInspire tools. Double click the.sopro file saved from Aware The Blaze Connector dashboard opens with test to be administered Select ActivExpressions Click Proceed 27

28 Test Admin cont d Pass devices out to students Students: 1. Turn device on 2. Click pad by Answer 3. Locate Student ID on Teacher s Class Roster and enter it into device with key pad 4. Click pad by Send 28

29 Test Admin cont d When student clicks send, the Student ID and Device will populate in the teacher s dashboard All devices activated will show green In Progress When all students are In Progress, click Proceed to Test 29

30 Test Admin cont d As students enter answers, teacher can monitor progress on the dashboard When all students are done or there s no time left, Click Complete Test for Entire Class Warnings will come up as you complete this step Log into Aware to see student scores 30

31 Student Entries on Device Once the teacher clicks Proceed to test, the questions come up on the Response pad and the student can proceed through the test: Click on Answer pad Click pad next to correct answer Click on Question Pad to proceed to the next question Repeat process until all questions are answered When teacher completes test, device will shut off automatically 31
