1 INTRODUCTION NYCE is a digital software program that uses research-based pedagogy allowing English language learners to learn English at their own pace. NYCE introduces English through HD real-life videos, voice recordings, voice analyzing, grammar, pronunciation, writing, and reading. All lessons are taught with full color graphics, audio for all instruction, text on screen, and a native language translation for those who may need extra assistance. NYCE currently has two suites: Intermediate Conversation which contain 30 different themes and Advanced Conversation which contains 45 different themes. Themes are designed to increase in difficulty and proficiency levels. Each lesson begins with an introductory video explaining what the lesson will cover. NYCE is rich with socio-cultural situations, learning strategies, literacy skills, and academic content instruction. Its modern day design and voice recording tools will keep the ELL student entranced with learning English. NYCE provides lessons to accelerate conversational English skills and for students to practice on ANY DEVICE, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME. ABOUT THE CEF The CEFR describes foreign language proficiency at six levels: A1 and A2, B1 and B2, C1 and C2.. Based on empirical research and widespread consultation, this scheme makes it possible to compare tests and examinations across languages and national boundaries. It also provides a basis for recognizing language qualifications and thus facilitating educational and occupational mobility. It was designed to provide a transparent, coherent and comprehensive basis for the elaboration of language syllabuses and curriculum guidelines, the design of teaching and learning materials, and the assessment of foreign language proficiency. CORRELATION This document contains the correlation between NYC English and the Common European Framework. Correlations are for all language proficiency levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2 and with NYCE s Intermediate Conversation and Advanced Conversation suites. 2 A1 CEF Components A1 Basic User Breakthrough Student understands familiar words and very basic phrases concerning themselves,their family and immediate concrete surroundings when people speak slowly and clearly. 3 A2 CEF Components A2 Basic User Waystage Student can understand phrases and the highest frequency vocabulary related to areas of most immediate personal relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local area, employment).student can catch the main point in short, clear, simple messages and announcements. Student can read very short, simple texts.student can find specific, predictable information in simple everyday material such as advertisements, prospectuses, menus and timetables, and student can understand short simple personal letters.
