1 Listening COMPREHENSION RUSSIAN LANGUAGE, INTERMEDIATE LEVEL Course tutor(s) Tatiana Batrakova, native speaker. Teaching experience at Social-Pedagogical Academy in Nizhny Tagil, Russia ( ). Since 2013 in cooperation with Callan language school, Krakow. Description Course is dedicated to students on intermediate level (A2 level). Type of course MA level, mandatory language course. SA level, optional course Year of Studies:1 or 2 (MA programme). SA programme. Number of ECTS points 15 ECTS per year (7.5 ECTS per semester) for MA programme 8 ECTS per semester for SA programme Prerequisites (if applicable) Students should have knowledge of the Russian language at A1 level. Intended Learning Outcomes At the end of the course, students have knowledge of Russian language at A2 level (CEFR classification). SOCIAL KNOWLEDGE SKILLS COMPETENCES EK1: The student at this level knows basic vocabulary related to everyday life as well as rules of pronunciation, accentuation and intonation. EK3: The students possesses the skills to understand simple statements, expressions, and the most commonly used words and phrases in everyday life (shopping, work, studying, public transport, family, health, interests, etc.), and can comprehend the main sense of simple, short announcements and messages (train station, airport, etc.) Can catch the main point in a short, clear, simple messages and announcements. EK5: In addition to language skills, the student at this level possesses basic knowledge of cultural and civilizational differences (behavioral norms, good manners, customs, holidays). With these three components, the student can function in a new environment, cope with basic

2 Production SPEAKING Interaction Reading EK2: The student knows vocabulary, grammatical structures and commonly used terminology, typical for written communiqués used in everyday life. Knows the structure of russian sentence. EK6: The student knows vocabulary, grammatical structures and basic rules of effective information exchange in everyday and social situations. Knows how to express his opinions, and preferences, agree or disagree, express his/her hope and fear, compare, ect. EK7: The student at this level has a vocabulary and grammatical structures sufficient to construct simple statements and presentations on basic topics (introducing oneself, description of the family, place of residence, information regarding work and studies, education, hobbies, free time, plans for the future, express emotions, living conditions, ect.). EK4: The students at this level can read and comprehend simple, short texts on themes connected with everyday life; is capable of finding concrete, relevant, and necessary information in texts, such as: announcements, ads, menus, timetables, hours of operations, ticket prices, etc; can comprehend short, simple letters and s. EK8: The student can participate in simple, direct exchange of information about topics that are known and familiar to him/her in concrete everyday situations (purchasing tickets, room reservations, course registration, shopping, etc.) Capable of partaking in short, colloquial social conversation, adequately answering simple questions and capable of posing such questions. EK9: Student can use a series of phrases and sentences to describe in a simple terms his/ her family, other people, living conditions, background, his/her present, past and future. issues of life, and act appropriately to the situation, in accordance with the basic sociocultural norms of the country. Knows some russian important names, songs, films, types of russian cities.

3 WRITING EK10: The student knows the rules of spelling and grammar as well as vocabulary necessary for the construction of short simple written statements. Student can write simple notes using the most popular vocabulary, can write simple private letters, mails, applications, mails, short stories. EK11: Students is able to create a short text (short note, messages left for co-workers or roommates, for example) needed for immediate purposes. Has the ability to write a short letter, postcard or (a thank you, a greeting, etc.), written information regarding the date and time of return, residence, etc. EK12: The student knows and is able to use basic rules for letter writing (style, date, headline, etc.), knows how to start and finish a postcard, how to write an advertisement. Assessment End of semester grade: Tests and quizzes 15% Attendance and homework 40% Final exam 45% The students will take 3 5 tests per semester. The student will receive a passing mark if he/she obtains a minimum of 60%. In the event of failing a test, the student must retake it (date and time to be determined with the teacher). In the case the fails to take the test (or has poor attendance), he/she will not be allowed to take the final exam. The student may miss up to 6 classes/semester. If a student is absent more often, he/she will not be allowed to take the final exam. The final exam is composed of 2 parts: oral and written. Written: grammar excercies, lexical, reading comprehension, written essay, listening comprehension. Oral: dialogue with the teacher, mini-monolog, describing a photo or picture.
