1 Level 1 /2 Literacy Millionaire Games This document provides student rules, teacher information and optional props for the Millionaire games contributed by Jo Williams. Information for teachers You need laptop (speakers optional) / projector / calculators (optional) envelope containing all the names of the students in the class copy of the rules for each student see page 3 (alternatively write them on flipchart or board) copy of each option picture (50/50, etc.) for each student - see page 2 (can be laminated) answer sheet for each student see page 4 (you do not have to use this) Millionaire certificate for the winner see page 5. Notes on using / playing the game Option pictures (page 2) Ask each student to place these picture options in front of them, face up. When they use any option they turn the picture over. Each option can only be used once by each student. The teacher is not included in any of the options, for obvious reasons! Using any option loses the student 50% of the question value, whether or not they choose to take the new answer or their original answer. Ask the Audience Move the mouse to this option in the top left of the screen and click. This will only provide a sound effect, so now all the other members of the class vote for A, B,C, or D, write their answers on a small whiteboard or similar. Remember the student(s) using this option may still choose to use their original answer, but they still lose 50% of the value of the question. Phone a friend Move the mouse to this option in the top left of the screen and click. This will only provide a sound effect. The student using this option now picks a name out of the envelope and this person gives an answer (I ve found this is the fairest way). If they pick their own name, they choose again. 50/50 Move the mouse to this option in the top left of the screen and click, half the answers will now be removed. Click the mouse again to get the correct answer. Using the Millionaire presentation Click the mouse or use the arrow buttons to move between each slide, this is also how you get the answers and use the options (50/50, etc) Make sure you have a number of calculators for the end! The winner is the player with the most money. Page 1
