2 Welcome I am very pleased to welcome you to Perth for the Rural Health West. The theme for this year s conference The future of rural health care is appropriate as we also celebrate our 25 year milestone. We celebrate the successes of the past and look forward to the future working with you, the rural Western Australian doctors, to improve the health of rural Western Australian communities. We are excited to welcome three excellent keynote speakers who will present on a range of topics as well as provide you with the opportunity to participate in clinical updates, practical workshops and learning opportunities that are professionally accredited. I invite you to join us at the Rural Health West Doctors Service Awards on Saturday 15 March 2014 as we recognise the achievements of your colleagues. The Awards have been part of the Annual Conference program since 2008 and provide a unique opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding work of rural medical practitioners who are often the unsung heroes of many rural communities. Finally, I hope many of you will be joining us tonight for the 25 Year Anniversary Gala Dinner Dance. This dinner dance is to celebrate the organisation and the doctors it has supported over the last 25 years. The Minister for Health will launch a commemorative book which provides a concise history of the Western Australian Centre for Remote and Rural Medicine and its transformation into Rural Health West. The evening provides an opportunity to reflect, network with colleagues old and new and look excitedly towards the future. We look forward to celebrating with you.
