2 Expanding high quality arts learning opportunities for our students and the community. Serving both the college and the greater community of Prince George s County, the Queen Anne Renovation and Addition expands and transforms the existing 1960 s-era Queen Anne Fine Arts Building into a new state-of-the-art educational facility. The project supports the enhancement of vital Liberal Arts departments and programs dedicated to performing and communication arts as well as various workforce development, student services, and community outreach programs. The 759-seat theatre will be completely renovated to accommodate college-wide assembly functions and a variety of community productions and events. In addition to simply renovating existing space, the Queen Anne building will add 136,545 square feet that will surround and integrate the design of the original building, allowing for back and forth movement of students, faculty, costumes, supplies, and instruments. Beyond needed offices, classrooms and the theater, the renovated Queen Anne building will feature a 304-seat proscenium auditorium, 152-seat black box studio, recital hall, instructional theater and entertainment technology labs, conference rooms, mass communications broadcast and production labs, music rehearsal spaces, dance studios, an art gallery, and café. 1 Lobby

3 1 Lobby 3 Proscenium Theater LEVEL ONE 7 Conference Center The lobby provides a popular gathering space for audiences before and after performances and during intermissions, but more importantly, it offers a space for students to socialize, study, enjoy a snack or relax between classes, fostering collaboration between disciplines. 2 Theater After more than fifty years of accommodating theatrical, musical, and community events on campus, the 759-seat theater will be completely reinvigorated with new technology, finishes, seating, and acoustics. When it reopens it will once again take its place as the heart of the campus and the community. The 304-seat Proscenium Theater has a fully fly tower and is equipped with the full complement of performance systems, all geared toward students preparing for future study and professional performance. The auditorium offers comfortable seating and provides a sense of intimacy, enhanced through acoustics, lighting and sightlines. 4 Black Box Studio Theater The 152-seat Black Box Theater is intended to have a recessive architectural character that can take on almost any conceivable function related to the visual arts from traditional scenic theatre to cutting-edge digital video installations. Telescopic seating and movable platforms allow for a wide range of audience setups. 5 Café 7 12 Situated centrally in the lobby is a full café featuring specialty beverages and meal and snack offerings that will include healthy options Art Galley The Art Galley will showcase the work of students as well as community, national and international artists. Located prominently at the main entrance and opening to the lobby, it will attract many visitors as well as theater patrons during performance intermissions. 9 Two large rooms, or six individual conference rooms, these flexible multipurpose spaces provide a place to host special events and vital community outreach activities. High ceilings, movable partitions, and acoustical control allow for a wide range of configurations and uses. 8 TV Studio The TV Studio suite is a soundisolated, technology-equipped lab with high ceilings, allowing students to learn and experience all aspects of television broadcasting and production. 9 Theater and Entertainment Technology Studio This flexible working lab can be used for theater rehearsals and performances, and can be set up to teach a variety of technical courses in lighting, stagecraft, sound, and costuming. 10 Make-up Studio Focused on the craft of learning the application of theater make-up and prosthetics, this lab will be outfitted with make-up stations with controlled lighting and salon style sinks. 3 Proscenium Theater what is happening on any stage in the building along with TV connections. 12 Star Dressing Rooms These private lounges can accommodate two principle performers each and provide makeup stations, bathroom and shower facilities and audio connections to all stages. 13 Dance Performance Studio 14 Dance Teaching Studio The Dance Teaching Studio provides ample space for both individual and group instruction, coaching and practicing all types of dance forms and movement. 13 LEVEL TWO 15 Radio Broadcast Studios These twin, acoustically isolated studios are located in a prominent central spot on the second floor, overlooking the lobby and café. 4 Black Box Studio Theater 11 Green Room Providing a comfortable place for guest speakers and performers, the Green Room will house lounge style furniture, along with a make-up station, private bathroom, and shower facility. A flat-screen monitor in the room provides a view of Enabling the college to offer a Dance major, this venue is intended to be a small, flexible studio optimized for both dance rehearsal and performance, and offers a professional quality sprung dance floor, mirrors, lighting, and banquette style seating platform for performers or an audience

4 LEVEL TWO (cont.) 18 TV Radio & Film Lab 21 Recital Hall LEVEL THREE 26 Music Technology Lab Student Study and Learning Lab The Study Center and Learning Lab provide quiet zones for both individual study and focused tutoring sessions. 17 TV, Radio and Film Study and Learning Lab The Study Center and Learning Lab, exclusively for TV, Radio and Film students, provide quiet zones for both individual study and focused tutoring sessions. This technology-rich classroom will facilitate instruction for students interested in film, television, video, radio, and other digital and mass media industries. 19 Theater Technology Lab This space is specially designed for the instruction of technical stage and set design, to include both hand and computer aided drafting. 20-Music and Recording Studio The studio offers highlysensitive acoustics and a fully integrated setup of music and radio broadcast equipment. Acoustically isolated booths for vocalist and instrumentalist, located outside of the main studio, will be observable through specially designed windows. Located in one of the premier corner spaces of the third floor, the Recital Hall is an elegant double height reception space to showcase and record the talents of student recitalists. Designed with maximum flexibility for adjustable acoustics and tiered seating arrangements, it also serves as the rehearsal room for the orchestra. 22 Choral Lab The Choral Lab offers adjustable acoustics and choral risers with seating to accommodate rehearsals. 23 Ensemble Practice Rooms Featuring specially designed acoustics, these rooms offer quality environments for music practice for six students each Percussion Lab Acoustically treated and isolated, the Percussion Lab allows students to practice at full volume and hear each other play, while not disturbing neighboring rooms. 25 Music Teaching Studios These studios serve both as offices for Music faculty and a place for private instruction and practice for two students. This lab for 20 students is specially outfitted with music technology workstations and white boards with music staffs. 27 Piano Teaching Lab A specially outfitted lab with electronic pianos and white boards with music staffs. 28 Music Practice Rooms Acoustically isolated, each of the nine individual practice rooms contain an upright piano and mirror.
