As the Dean reads out the name, the candidate should walk to the dais with a cap off, escorted by Supervisors and kneel before the Chancellor. The Chancellor will then cap the graduand and simultaneously confer the Degree on him/her by saying. I admit you to the Doctor of Philosophy degree of Kisii University, for which you have been educated, trained, examined and qualified, and by my authority and that of the entire University, give you power to read and do all that appertains to this degree. The candiadate will then stand, receive his/her degree certificate from the Chancellor. The graduand will then bow/curtsey to the Chancellor, and then be escorted back to resume to his/her seat. 14
