Pearson School Board Accomplishments With France Goyette, presented the AAESQ Brief regarding Bill 56, Loi visant à lutter contre l intimidation et la violence à l école to the Commission parlementaire de la culture et de l éducation. This was an important step forward for AAESQ as it continued the precedent set by Stephen Pigeon and Michael Stirrup for consultation at the parliamentary level. On behalf of PASA, Mark presented a brief on the Lester B. Pearson Major School Change Process for

Listen carefully, not only to what people are saying, but to what they are not saying. Q. Most notable achievement event? A. Raising two wonderful children. Q. Most memorable event? A. My desire to be of service is the connecting thread throughout all the positions I have held in education. Q. Greatest lesson learned? A. Sound judgment is an essential quality; it cannot be replaced by degrees or diplomas Q. Most notable achievement event? A. I learned to juggle legal framework within daily educational context. Q. This team planned, initiated and maintained an anti-bullying program that increased emphasis on accountability from students, to parents, to staff and administration from 2010 to the present. The combined schools of Hadley Junior and Philomen Wright High Schools were 2 years ahead of many provincial schools in light of antibullying programming and Bill 56. Both schools were the subjects of a CBC television news documentary, which put the leadership of the team to the test of public scrutiny in the broader national context. NHK a Japanese Public Television Network would like to examine anti-bullying revision in Canada and in particular our 2 schools and their programs.

To achieve success in our community by creating a healthy and safe school environment Q. Greatest lesson learned? A. How open both the students and the adults in their lives were to making this anti-bullying initiative a success. Q. Most notable achievement event? A. The cultural shift community of learners willing to go the extra mile to make a difference. Q. Most memorable event? A. This initiative enabled one of our students to confidently attend Senior Prom in drag supported by student body and staff alike. This could not have happened even 2 years ago. Has demonstrated ongoing professional growth and a thirst for knowledge In the 7 years that Elaine led the Centre of Excellence for the Physically, Intellectually & Multi-Challenged, she can be credited with not only establishing but in building a strong and active centre that supported the Anglophone sector across the Province.

During University I volunteered with a group of intellectually disabled children and discovered I really enjoyed it. I wanted to use a more humane approach in education respect goes a long way. Q. Greatest lesson learned? A. We need to take time to stand around and chat, this is where information is exchanged and relationships are developed. Q. Most notable achievement event? A. That I became a teacher at all, then a very good one. Q. Most memorable event? A. Talking with a Grade 2 boy distressed about changes and people leaving and thinking he was referring to his friends but he looked at me tearfully and said I m talking about you! Helped Place Cartier achieve tremendous growth. Added 4 new vocational programs to the Lester B Pearson course offerings. Served as President of PROCEDE and is a member of the Advisory Board on English Education.

My dad installed a chalkboard in our home today I guess I would have asked for a smartboard. Q. Greatest lesson learned? A. You need to listen, be true to yourself and always keep the big picture in mind. Q. Most notable achievement event? A. I am most proud of the growth of Adult Ed and the expansion of Vocational Ed to include new partnerships and authorizations for our anglophone community Q. Most memorable event? A. Witnessing the transformation of adults & their families upon the completion of a diploma, often the first ever. AAESQ applauds Gloria Keenan, truly a worthy recipient

Having been involved in the YMCA Leaders Corps program, I found passion in working with children and subsequently, helping adults pursue their lifelong desire to learn Q. Greatest lesson learned? A. An administrator s strength & success is the composite of knowledge, experience, initiative and creativity of those who work with you. Q. Most notable achievement event? A. Negotiating with MELS the first English Map of Vocational Options that became the foundation for English-language school boards of today. Q. Most memorable event? A. Convincing MELS that the Penetration Ration was a sound statistical concept that has to this day enabled us to maintain a distinct Englishlanguage adult education sector.
