1 CAISSE DESJARDINS DE CHOMEDEY AWARDS $40,875 TO THREE SCHOOLS IN LAVAL Laval, January 9 th, In order to finance educational and cultural projects, the Caisse Desjardins de Chomedey has donated $28,000 to three schools in Chomedey: École secondaire Saint-Maxime, Laval Liberty High School and Laval Junior High School. These projects allow youth to excel, challenge themselves and be involved in extra-curricular activities throughout their years in school. MUSIC PROGRAM Laval Liberty High School was granted $12,000 to be allocated to their music program. The school invested this money for the purchase of high-quality musical instruments. Daniel Rousseau, President of the Board of Director of the Caisse, pointed out that the new instruments will help students develop their musical talents to the best of their abilities. NEW SCHOOL FACILITIES École Saint-Maxime received a cheque of $11,000. By providing this financial support, Caisse de Chomedey was involved in the creation an outdoor basket-ball court, a mini theatre, as well as a sitting area with tables and benches. The money has also gone towards the purchase of student sports uniforms and plasma screen TVs. The Caisse is proud to be involved in the improvement of student school life. TRAINING EQUIPMENT A total of $5,000 was allocated to Laval Junior High School for the purchase of high-quality training equipment gear and accessories. Sports programs at Laval Junior High are very popular. In fact, more than 50% of students are registered in a sports concentration program. This year, the football, soccer, hockey and basket-ball teams will all have access to a new top-of-the-line training facility, designed to better motivate them while helping to enhance their performance. YOUNG RESPONSIBLE CITIZEN PROGRAM The Caisse also gave a sum of $12,875 to Saint-Maxime School and Laval Liberty High School for the Young Responsible Citizen program. This program implemented by the Caisse Desjardins de Chomedey promotes, improves and rewards good behaviour adopted by students. Daniel Rousseau affirms that the Caisse s commitment to the community directly stems from its cooperative nature, which is manifest in their many initiatives.
