Thomas When our core markeing course was cu from 3 o 1.5 credis, we developed a faculy-eam approach o redesign he course. Firs, he six-person design eam joinly deermined a framework for he course, including he breadh and deph of opics o be covered, using syllabi from nine differen MBA programs. Common course objecives and major deliverables were also esablished, including a pre-pos markeing simulaion. Nex, seven faculy were seleced o develop modules based on heir specialy (i.e., wha elecive hey each). Each module consised of readings, slides, video lecure, online quiz, and a concep applicaion aciviy. A common slide emplae and srucure mainained consisency across modules, and faculy were encouraged o promoe heir elecive a he end of each lecure. All modules were loaded ino a maser Blackboard sie. When a faculy is assigned o each he course, he maser becomes heir saring poin, from which hey can personalize delivery hrough heir welcome video, online and in-class discussions and aciviies, and he selecion of cases ha play o heir srenghs. There are many benefis o his model of course design: 1) sudens exposed o variey of faculy perspecives and lecure syles, 2) less prep ime for core insrucors means more ime o focus on delivery and learning, 3) greaer consisency across secions, 4) elecive faculy can hold sudens accounable for core knowledge and hen build ono i, 5) core video library becomes a suden resource in elecives, 6) elecive enrollmen should increase, and 7) faculy involved in he projec gain experience developing an online course module. #mnsummi
