Part : What is e-learning? Part : What is e-learning? e-learning is a section where teachers can assign online exercises such as e-worksheets and other learning resources to classes and individual students. Teachers can also obtain handy progress reports to check on students progress. Teachers can also view and export detailed reports for online exercises with auto-marking function to keep track of students results and self-learning progress.
Part : What is e-learning?. Features of e-learning There are three useful components in the e-learning section: Manage e-assignments, Self-Learning corner and Go to ilearn. Manage e-assignments, the feature component of the e-learning section, is where teachers can view, assign and manage all e-assignments. Read Part and Part of this user guide for details on this component. Self-Learning Corner leads teachers and users to external teaching resources developed for self-learning purposes. It serves as a quick reference guide for teachers. Go to ilearn is a shortcut link that allows teachers to preview what is offered in students ilearn platform (actual e-assignments will not be shown in this preview mode).
Part : Assigning resources to classes / students Part : Assigning resources to classes / students. Assigning Book Resources Resources found in this section correspond to what you can see and access under the Book Resources tab in the Preparation and Teaching sections. If there are any materials from that section that you want to assign to your students, you can do so in this section. What you may find particularly useful are Post-Reading e-questions, e-worksheets and Text Type e-questions. These resources are all equipped with auto-marking function and are helpful in evaluating students self-learning progress. Step Go to e-learning > Assign > Book Resources. Step Select the Book and Chapter that you want. To preview a resource on the e-assignment list, simply click on the resource name. 4
Part : Assigning resources to classes / students Step To assign an item, select the box next to it (you can select multiple resources at a time). Alternatively, you can also select all items by checking the All box on the top of the table. Step 4 Click Assign to confirm your selection. Step 5 In the pop-up window, rename the folder name if necessary. You can also see all the assignments that you have selected in previous steps under the folder name. Step 6 Choose the class(es) that you want to assign the resources. You can choose more than one class at a time. 5
Part : Assigning resources to classes / students Step 7 Alternatively, you can assign resources to individual students instead of classes. To do so, click Assign to students and choose the class and then students. Click the arrow to add students to the list. Repeat until you are done with choosing all the students you want. Helpful hints: To select multiple students at a time, hold the CTRL key and then select the student names. Use the double arrow to select and add all students in a class to the list. To remove students from the selection list, click on their names and then the arrow. To remove all students from the list, use the double arrow. Step 8 Click on the Due date box to select a date from the pop-up calendar. Note that the due date must be posterior to the date you assign the resources. Click Assign to complete the process. 6
Part : Assigning resources to classes / students. Assigning Interactive Lesson resources Resources found in this section correspond to what you can see and access under the Interactive Lessons tab in the Preparation and Teaching sections. If there are any materials from that section that you want to assign to your students, you can do so in this section. A lot of the interactive games in this section are equipped with auto-marking function, making them effective revision materials. Step Go to e-learning > Assign > Interactive Resources. Step Select the Level and Folder that you want. To preview a resource on the e-assignment list, simply click on the title. Step Follow Steps to 8 of the previous section on. Assigning Book Resources to assign Interactive Lessons resources to classes and students. 7
Part : Managing e-assignments Part : Managing e-assignments After assigning resources to classes or students, teachers can review their assignment lists and modify assignment settings in the View Progress Reports sub-section. In addition, teachers can view and obtain detailed reports on students learning progress in e-assignments with auto-marking feature in this sub-section. Teachers will be able to view and export useful progress reports that offer detailed performance statistics on classes and individual students. This sub-section is particularly useful in consolidating information about students competency to facilitate performance evaluation.. Viewing assigned resources Step Go to e-learning > View Progress Report. 8
Part : Managing e-assignments Step Select Class, Whole Class / Individual Students and click Go. If you have assigned resources to classes, choose Whole Class. If you have assigned resources to individual students, choose Individual Students. Step Look for the assigned resources you want and check out assignment details such as who the resources have been assigned to, the date the resources are assigned as well as the due date set. 9
Part : Managing e-assignments. Modifying due date of e-assignments Step Under the View Progress Report tab, select Class, Whole Class / Individual Student and click Go. Step Look for the assigned resources you want to modify. Under the Due date column, click Modify. Step In the pop-up window, click on the Due date box and choose a new date on the calendar. Step 4 Click Assign to confirm the modification. 4 0
Part : Managing e-assignments. Cancelling e-assignments Step Under the View Progress Report tab, select Class, Whole Class / Individual Student and click Go. Step Look for the assigned resources you want to cancel. Note that you can only cancel e-assignments originally assigned by you. You cannot modify other teachers e-assignments. 13 Part : Managing e-assignments.4 Viewing Progress Reports Step Under the View Progress Report tab, select Class, Whole Class / Individual Student and click Go. Step Look for the assigned resources you want and click View under the Report column. Step In the pop-up window on the top right hand corner, choose the exercise name. Step 4 In the pop-up progress report, you will be able to see basic details such as the e-assignment date and due date. You will also find useful data such as the exercise submission date and results. If a student has opened but not submitted/completed an e-assignment, there will be no score but only a date under the Access Date column. Step 5 To view how a particular student has completed the questions in an e-assignment, click View under the Work Done column
Part : Managing e-assignments Step 6 The e-assignment will be displayed in a separate window. You can see exactly how the student has completed the assignment, giving you handy and accurate information on their performance and competency.
Part : Managing e-assignments.5 Exporting Progress Reports In addition to viewing progress reports on the iteach platform, teachers can also export such reports for easy compilation of student record. All useful data such as lists of e-assignments and student results in these auto-marking exercises can be exported in the format of an Excel spreadsheet, facilitating the compilation of student reports. Step Under the View Progress Report tab, select Class, Whole Class / Individual Student and click Go. Step Select either Level Report or Class Report. Step In the pop-up window, choose Save to save the Excel report to your local hard drive or Open to read the Excel report right away. 4
Part : Managing e-assignments Step 4 In both the Level Report and Class Report, you will be able to obtain useful consolidated information on class/student results for each assigned e-assignment with auto-marking function. For example, you will be able to obtain the average level score of each e-assignment ; Level Report 5
