4 1 Make NWFSC the first choice for accessible, affordable, and relevant higher education and community, workforce, and economic development in our service area FIRST CHOICE 1.1. Implement an enrollment management plan to better recruit and retain students Increase student headcount by 5% Increase full-time equivalency by 5% Increase the percentage of Okaloosa and Walton County high school graduates who enroll as First-Time-in-College students 1.2. Provide greater access to higher education opportunities through innovative strategies including online courses/programs, dual credit enrollment, virtual collegiate academies, cooperative ventures with business and industry, and increased access to financial aid Increase the number of online course sections offered as a percentage of total course sections offered each term Increase the number of total enrollments in online courses as percentage of total enrollments Increase the number of enrollments in dual credit courses Increase semester credit hours (SCH s) generated from dual credit enrollments as a percentage of College SCH s Increase the percentage of students receiving financial aid Develop and implement virtual collegiate academies st Create opportunities for students to participate in business and industry cooperative ventures

Increase student diversity and equity in educational opportunity through focused recruitment and educational support services Develop strategies to recruit students from under-represented minority groups Increase percent of First-Time-in-College students from under-represented groups Increase percent of under-represented students receiving financial aid Develop and promote student success activities to increase participation rate of under-represented students enrolled in developmental education courses Close achievement gaps of under-represented students as indicated by GPA, persistence, and graduation rates 1.4. Implement new degree and certificate programs as well as short-term courses that respond to the needs of the service area Create new degree, certificate, and short-term programs 1.5. Continue to be recognized among the most affordable colleges in the Florida College System Maintain or improve our position as most affordable with tuition and fees below the 50th percentile of Florida College System institutions 1.6. Ensure continuous evaluation and alignment of all educational programs with community and workforce needs Establish scorecard to evaluate enrollment, graduation, and employment data for all bachelor s degree, associate degree, and certificate programs offered Conduct review of collegiate transfer programs 5

Achieve high ratings of student satisfaction regarding the on-boarding process including admissions, financial aid, student advising, and related support services Redesign on-boarding process including evaluation procedures Achieve 90% or better ratings of student satisfaction in all components of the on-boarding process
7 2 Serve students through an engaging collegiate culture that focuses on student success STRATEGIC PLAN STUDENTS FIRST 2.2. Implement strategies that employ flexible scheduling, student learning cohorts, and similar models that facilitate student learning Incorporate innovative strategies into academic units Develop plan to routinely evaluate strategies 2.3. Ensure appropriate faculty workloads and professional development that facilitate quality instruction, feedback, advising, and mentoring for students Improve rate of full-time faculty teaching standard teaching load Identify professional development priorities for faculty Increase the number of professional development opportunities provided and percent of faculty participating in these activities 2.4. Implement activities that promote student participation and engagement in events and services that broaden and enrich the collegiate experience Expand offerings at each student development services office Increase in the number of students participating in activities Develop plan to routinely evaluate activities 2.5. Identify and implement strategies to improve fall-to-fall retention rates of First-Time-in-College students Increase the retention rate of First-Time-in-College students by 6% each year FIRST IMPROVING LIVES 7
8 3 Ensure programs and services contribute to successful academic and career pathways SUCCESSFUL PATHS 3.1. Maintain comprehensive processes for the periodic review and evaluation of all educational programs and student development services Create calendar for periodic review of educational programs and student developmental services and report key findings on an annual basis Achieve or maintain accreditation/licensure for all professional programs subject to external standards and review 3.2. Achieve increased use of experiential learning, work experiences, and internships early in the educational programs of students, where appropriate Expand the number of programs that incorporate experiential learning, work experience, and internships in the curriculum Increase the number of students participating in early experiences Receive high ratings on feedback from faculty, students, and advisory committee members regarding the value of early experiences in educational programs
9 3 Ensure programs and services contribute to successful academic and career pathways SUCCESSFUL PATHS 3.3. Incorporate soft skills such as interpersonal communication, responsibility, initiative, and teamwork in the curricula of educational programs Redesign general education goals for career and transfer programs to incorporate soft skills 3.4. Increase each year the outreach and services of the Career Services Center and in its use by students Increase the number of students and potential employers using services provided by the Career Services Center Increase each year the job placement rates and higher salaries for students completing degree and certificate programs 3.5. Strengthen services to support students through to completion Increase each year the number of students completing Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees prior to transfer Increase the rate of students ts completing a credential in 150% of catalog time by 4% each year 9
10 4 Build innovative partnerships to support an institution of excellence EXCELLENCE 4.1. Establish and maintain working relationships with business, industry, government, and professional groups that ensure that the College s programs and services meet the highest standards Increase the number of memoranda of understanding with business, industry, government, and professional groups Increase the number of memoranda of understanding with other higher education institutions Expand participation in advisory committees for Career/Technical Programs Increase the number of College faculty and staff who serve as representatives to business, industry, professional, and community groups 4.2. Develop and foster effective partnerships with local school systems and with all military constituency groups within the service area Expand partnerships with local school systems through virtual collegiate academies, dual enrollment, and similar initiatives Initiate Presidential Tour of each high school in the service area Achieve legislative support for modification of fee structure for military personnel Achieve AU-ABC Level I Status as a higher education institution with the USAF 4.3. Showcase the College s accomplishments and activities with local, state, and federal officials Increase the number of communications distributed through Strategic Communications and the President s Office IMPROVING LIVES

Develop and implement a multi-year plan for improvement across all campuses and centers including facilities, grounds, parking, and related improvements Complete all physical improvements on time and within budget Implement a plan to secure external funding from both governmental, private agencies, and private giving Increase the total dollars garnered through governmental, private agencies and private giving Achieve full utilization of the College s enterprise resource system to support student registration, security of records, online course delivery, and to enable informed planning and decision-making throughout the College Increase percentage of total system uptime for year Receive high ratings of faculty satisfaction with course delivery and instructional support Receive high ratings of professional personnel satisfaction with technology support for student registration, student records security, and related technology support

Promote student involvement in athletic, cultural, community, and environmental activities Increase the number of activities that include student participation Conduct assessment of impact of student involvement Implement a plan for continued increases in student involvement 6.3. Expand the variety of cultural and environmental activities available to students and the community through events such as the President s Speakers Series Increase the number of events by category, attendees, and number of students involved IMPROVING LIVES 14
