(h) Research Works 2009/2010: 2008/2009: 2002: Coordinated a research entitled: constraints facing the management of the Teaching Practice in Kagumo Teachers College (on-going) Coordinated research entitled trainees perception ontraining in Diploma Teacher Education: a case study of mathematics graduates from Kagumo College in Nyeri District I undertook a research entitled science teachers perception of headteachers leadership styles and girls performance in KCSE sciences in public schools in Embu district. 4 partial fulfillment of an award of a Master of Education (M.Ed) thesis (2 months): Worked as a Research Assistant during a food Security Survey- Diocese of Embu. 1995(1 month): Worked as a research assistant during early Retirement Enumeration survey 1990(2 months): Worked as a research assistant during postcensus Enumeration survey (i) PROFFESIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS Chairman, Strategic Plan, Monitoring and Evaluation & Vision 2030 Flagship Projects- Kagumo TTC Chairman Research and Development committee at Kagumo College. The committee conducts various research works for the college and disseminates the research findings in organized forums in college. In 2008, I co-authored a handbook of Education for Kenya Institute of Education (KIE). In 2008 I got involved in planning and designing a 5 years strategic plan for KagumoTeachers College. The Kenya Institute of Education (KIE) in 2007 and 2008 involved me in the development of Diploma Teacher Education (DTE) syllabus. I also got appointed a course panelist for Diploma Teacher Education and Adult Education programmes. Between 2004 to date I have supervised more than twenty projects/theses at the diploma, degree and masters levels at the University of Nairobi and at the Kenya Methodist University. In March 2010, I got appointed as KNEC examiner specifically got trained to mark Diploma Teacher Education (DTE) education Examination. (j) ON THE JOB TRAINING COURSES In 2012, I got trained and examined in Internal Quality Auditing on ISO Standard and got certified as an ISO Internal Quality Auditor. In 2011, I was trained and certified as a Trainer of Trainers (ToT) by Inoorero University on IBTM (ICT Based Teaching and Information management ) course In 2011, I was trained in ISO 9001:2008 standard, specifically on Quality Management Systems, implementation and procedures documentation. In 2011, I was trained as a Master Trainer by Intel Multinational Company on Intel teach program, Getting started course (using 21 st Century skills Ireri s CV Page 4

5 in education) after which I trained 120 tutors of Kagumo Teachers Training College. In 2011, Trained as a Trainer of Trainers under the Academy for Education and Development (AED) program sponsored by USAID on ICT integration in teaching and learning. Consequently, trained 40 Secondary school Teachers and Kagumo college tutors on the same. In 2010, I was trained as a master trainer under the Academy for Education and Development (AED) program sponsored by USAID. Consequently, in January 2011 I trained 120 college tutors under Teacher Education and Professional Development (TEPD) program. In June, 2010 I attended a Ministry of Education capacity building workshop at KagumoCollege. Topics covered were: Work ethics and Ethos, Curriculum Management and Supervision, Resource Management, Operation Effective 60, Discipline in Schools, Teacher Management, Assessment and Evaluation, Financial Management/Procurement procedures, Stress management, Effective Communication and Results based management. In 2003 I attended a workshop on Distance Education, Open Learning and e-learning for Teacher Education at the Kenya Institute of Education (KIE).Topics covered were: Qualities of a good teacher, Developing distance education courses, Elements of a good DE, Open learning and e-learning modes, Developing teaching/learning materials for distance education, DE course design, DE technology and DE course management and administration In 2004, I attended a workshop on Attitude Change and Hands on Activities under the Strengthening of Mathematics and Sciences in Secondary Schools (SMASSE) programme. (k) COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE In 2012 I obtained a CISCO certificate on IT Essentials: PC Hardware and Software from CISCO Networking Academy. In December 2011, Obtained a Trainers of Trainers Certificate on ICT Based Teaching and Information Management (IBTM) course at Inoorero University. The following courses were offered: Integration of ICT in classroom practice, Dititized lesson plans, schemes of Work and Exams, Storage of Instructional materials, Open SIS, Customizing students information systems, Animation and Simulation. In November 2011, I obtained a certificate of Master Trainer from Intel Company on Getting Started course, ICT integration in teaching and Learning. 6 In April 2011, I was trained as master trainer by USAID on ICT integration in Teaching and Learning. Topics covered included: Introduction to Computers, Ms Word Processing, Ms Power point, Ms Excel and internet. In July 2002, I obtained a certificate from the University of Nairobi on computer proficiency course which covered: Introduction to computers, ms word and Internet. (l) RESPONSIBILITIES : An assistant registrar in charge of tuition programmesat KagumoCollege : Assistant Zone Co-Ordinator (Nakuru-Baringo Zone) for Teaching Practice at KagumoCollege.
