Universities UQ Economics Scholarships Year 12 students who want to study economics at UQ next year are encouraged to apply for a full tuition fee waiver scholarship. Applications are due 18 November for domestic and onshore international students and 28 November for Indigenous students. SRJ Walker Wayland Cadetship program Due to our location in the northern suburbs of Brisbane, SRJ Walker Wayland can offer students from in and around the area the opportunity to develop their career and attend university while still working close to home. A cadetship offers the opportunity to undertake a Commerce, Economics or Business degree majoring in Accounting while gaining valuable work experience. ACU: Accommodation Options Open Universities Australia Undergraduate Courses Most Open Universities undergraduate first level units have no entry requirements. Students can start in any one of their four study periods and graduates are awarded the same degree as their on-campus counterparts. CQ Uni Bachelor of Construction CQUniversity s innovative Bachelor of Construction offers a seamless combination of university theory with the hands-on practical aspects of TAFE, providing you with a practical pathway to a career in the construction and building industry. Available at Mackay and Rockhampton campuses. Your studies combine the core units from within the Certificate III in Carpentry with theoretical units in construction, built environment, management and design, including residential, commercial and complex construction. As a student in this course, you will gain theoretical knowledge in building and construction and will be provided with opportunities to apply this knowledge throughout scheduled work placements and hands-on class activities. Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Construction, along with the relevant work experience, you will be eligible to apply for an Open Class Builder s Licence in Queensland with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC). Alternatively, on completion of the first one-and-a-half years you can choose to exit with the Diploma of Construction and along with the required relevant industry experience, you may be eligible to apply for a Low Rise Building Licence recognised in Queensland by the QBCC. ACU Diploma in Languages ACU offers undergraduate students across all faculties the opportunity to complete a Diploma in Languages in conjunction with an ACU undergraduate degree so that you graduate with a bachelor degree and a diploma in the same timeframe. The course is part time, so you take one language unit in any study period. Units are offered in Summer Term, Semester 1 and Semester 2. The diploma is open to members of the university and to the community, and individual language units can also be taken on a non-award basis. BMA Community & Indigenous Scholarship Programs The BMA Community Scholarship Program and BMA Indigenous Scholarship Program aim to encourage participation in tertiary education at CQUniversity, particularly in programs which will increase vital skills, knowledge and community development in the communities where BMA operates including Moranbah, Emerald, Capella, Dysart and Blackwater. These scholarships were developed to address skills shortages in the Bowen Basin region, helping to develop skilled professionals who study, live and work in the region and ultimately contribute to their communities. Applications are encouraged from prospective students wishing to study in any area which is not mining or engineering related. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate community involvement and a future desire to contribute to the communities where BMA operates. Selection is not based on academic merit. Free information session about the course on Wed 2nd November at Sunshine Coast Technical Trade Training Centre, 40 Bower Street, Caloundra /?type=3&theater Private Colleges Endeavour College of Natural Health Indigenous Scholarship Endeavour is offering up to two scholarships for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander year 12 secondary school leavers. School leavers aged between 17 and 19 years of age (at time of application) that are seeking a career in the natural health sector are encouraged to apply. If you are successful, Endeavour will cover the full cost of tuition fees for one of our leading Bachelor of Health Science degrees in either Naturopathy (4 years) or Nutritional and Dietetic Medicine (3 years). This scholarship is for students commencing full time study in February 2017 at any one of our six campuses around Australia. This will include a bursary of $500 per student for the first year to cover the cost of text books through our Wellspring Bookstore and some tutoring assistance if required. Information includes how to apply, testing, financial aid, visas, and more. There are EducationUSA Centres in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Green Army Programme The programme provides opportunities for young Australians aged years to gain training and experience in environmental and heritage conservation fields, while participating in projects that generate benefits for the environment. Green Army teams of 10 (up to nine participants and one team supervisor) are deployed to projects lasting weeks across Australia to help communities deliver local conservation outcomes. 7 Disability Support in Higher Education The Australian Disability Clearinghouse on Education and Training provides a comprehensive list of support services available for students with a disability who are studying at university or TAFE. It has information about the tertiary education application process as well as contacts at each individual education provider. Health Heroes This website provides information for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are interested in a career in the health industry. It provides information about the huge variety of jobs available, and has videos of personal stories from Indigenous people working in the health sector. Meet Peter FitzSimons Join acclaimed award-winning Australian author Peter FitzSimons at a special literary event on Thursday 24 November, pm at The Events Centre, Caloundra. Hear Peter speak about his latest release, Victory at Villers-Bretonneux. Special guest MC is popular radio announcer, Mark Darin.
