7 How to apply Freshmen applying for Fall 2018 can use the Common Application. Applicants can complete either the Common Application or the University Application. Applications are online at wayne.edu/apply $25 application fee Apply by December 1 for priority scholarship consideration Send official transcripts and test scores to WSU Office of Undergraduate Admissions ACT code 2064 SAT code 1868

8 Financial aid update Most affordable undergraduate resident tuition of Michigan s three major research universities. All students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA beginning October 1 (using WSU code ), which is three months earlier than previously allowed prior to last year.

9 Prior-prior year Beginning with the FAFSA, students will be asked to report tax and income data from the prior-prior tax year. This change allows more students to use the IRS Data Retrieval tool, which can decrease the need for additional documentation. Schools will be able to provide financial aid packages to students and their families sooner than before. Visit wayne.edu/financial-aid for more information soon.

10 Freshman scholarships The 2017 merit scholarship program is still being finalized. Students will automatically be considered for merit scholarships at the time of application. Scholarships will be awarded based on ACT/SAT and high school GPA. For maximum scholarship consideration students must complete have a completed admission application (including transcripts and test scores) by Dec. 1 Check back to wayne.edu/scholarships for details as program is finalized.

11 Wayne Access Program For maximum scholarship consideration students must complete have a completed admission application (including transcripts and test scores) by Dec. 1 and a completed FAFSA by March 1.

12 Generation Next Fee Waiver New this year, the waiver alleviates the requirement for first generation students having to pay the $25 admissions application fee. Approximately 36% of the nearly 19,000 freshmen admissions applications submitted for 2017 were from first generation students--defined as students whose parents have not received a four-year college degree.

13 RaiseMe Allows high school students to earn micro scholarships for academic and life achievements, from earning an A in a core course ($150) to visiting Wayne State s campus ($1,250). Students can register for free at raise.me/join/wayne-state

15 New housing coming in 2018 Groundbreaking for 842 new beds began spring 2017 Anthony Wayne Apartments will feature a mix of studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and four-bedroom units with upscale finishes for undergraduate students The new building will feature retail spaces and new location for the student health center

16 Guide App Incoming freshmen are encouraged to download and take advantage of the new Guide, College Simplified mobile app in either the App Store or Google Play. Guide acts as a personal coach to help you explore majors, gain step by step advice, view your class schedule, connect students to campus resources and keep students in the know with important key dates.
