It is one of the few universities designated as a "National Medical University" by the government of Ukraine. It is a member of the association of universities, European association of universities, World Health Organization, and other international organizations. Around 4000 foreign students attend from all over the world, including the US, Western Europe, Australia, Africa, India and parts of Asia. The university contains 48 departments. The IFNMU Library received the prize (2nd degree diploma) for "Library of the year 2009" in the All Ukrainian Contest. Across all departments, the university is working to improve the methods used to educate and train new doctors. Medical students are trained by doctors and academics, including six honored scientists and two honored workers of higher education, as well as two Laureates of the State Prize of Ukraine. The university provides medical care to patients throughout the city and wider region across 40 specialties, and also serves as a national database of anatomy. A number of university faculty are members of national and international congresses and symposiums. The Rector of the University, along with members of the council of the Ukrainian Medical Association, founded the magazine "Galician drug Gazette", which operates alongside the scientific journal "Archives of Clinical Medicine."

3 About University The university is situated in Ivano city in the northwest of Ukraine and is a leading higher education establishment in the region, with a higher accreditation level. The university provides continuity of higher medical education: Junior Specialist a Bachelor a Medical Specialist a Master a post graduate. The university history started in 1945 and is listed in the WHO Directory of Medical Schools and in the US FAIMER International Medical Education Directory (IMED). The university is one of the few Medical Universities in Ukraine to be designated as a National Medical University by the government of Ukraine. IvanoFrankivsk;(also spelled Ivano-Frankovsk), formerly (until 1962) Stanislav, is a city and administrative center in the Ivano-Frankivsk region located in the western part of Ukraine. The city lies along the Bystritsa River just above its confluence with the Dniester River. It is a railway and highway junction in the region. There is also an airport in the city. It was founded in 1662 as the town of Stanislawow. After the first partition of Poland (1772), the town was held by Austria until It occupied an important position on the northern approach to the Yablonitsa Pass over the Carpathians. From 1919 to 1939, the city was a part of Poland. In 1939, together with western Ukraine, it became part of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. In 1945, it was ceded to the Soviet Union and named Stanislav. In 1962, the city turned 300 years old. It was renamed, and since that time it bears the name of Ukrainian writer Ivan Franko who often visited the town, wrote, and read his works there. In the early 1990s, Ivano-Frankivsk was one of the centers of the Ukrainian independence movement.

4 Teaching Staff The teaching staff is highly qualified and have experience working with foreign students. The university holds 443 teaching staff including 77 PhDs, 264 candidates for PhD, and 19 academics. Researchers in the university have made achievements in fields including cardiology, paediatrics, internal medicine, kidney physiology, and pathology. Many of the teachers and professors have made major contributions to the country in areas of research, achievements, and discoveries.

7 Library Several libraries, which are located in the University campus, comprise of a short-term book-borrowing library, a long-term book-borrowing library and a computerized library; where one can find literature on line. These libraries contain more than 800,000 copies of different books, from different parts of the world in different languages etc. The electronic reading hall is connected with the University data bank and Internet. The University supplies her students with all the literature necessary for academic purposes. State establishment of Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University library stock includes more than 800 thousand copies of books, journals and theses in the Ukrainian, English, Russian, French and German languages. The library work is purposed for building and protecting of book stocks and meeting the readers needs and the tasks of teaching and research processes with most possible effectiveness. One of the main tasks of the library is supporting the teaching process and the independent work of the students, which requires an effective interaction with the Teaching division, dean s offices and departments. The stock formation sector and the textbook loan system keep the card-catalogue reflecting the extent to which the teaching process is provided with books. The library carries on scientifically based formation of stocks in compliance with the regulations in action and financial facilities, aiming at reaching the ratio of books to student s 1:1.

8 Hostel Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University has ample of hostel facilities for local and foreign students. The hostel provides a cot, a mattress, a study table, a chair and a cupboard for each student. Every hostel has 24 hour electricity and water supply, solar heated water facility, water cooler with Aqua guard filters, common telephone, common TV room, common reading room, internet wifi etc. All the rooms are nicely decorated with european standard. Students of the hostel get routine check up form doctors and nurses. Several personnels for each hostel building continuously keep the building clean to provide healthy atmosphere for students. Usually 2-3 students stay in one room but if any one wants can take individual room for themselves in addition of extra charges. The cost of hostel for one annual range between dollars.
